What You'll be Doing:
The Associate Director - Learner Experience, UVU Online (ADLE) will join a startup team and serve as principal champion for comprehensive delivery of online programs through an exceptional online learner experience. The Associate Director recognizes the role and significance of online education to the fulfillment of the UVU Mission and Vision 2030 strategic initiatives and helps UVU to realize the challenges and opportunities inherent with operationalizing and scaling quality online programs.
The Associate Director provides representation of fully online learner needs and preferences to the institution and uses student data to inform and prioritize activities that will help UVU meet and exceed online student expectations. The ADLE works with the Director of UVU Online and the University Flexible Learning Council to collaborate with UVU divisions to strategically prioritize initiatives and optimize policies, systems, processes, and technologies that will ensure an exceptional experience for online students from prospect to graduate.
The Associate Director Learner Experience - UVU Online innovates and optimizes solutions for online learners across three distinct phases of the student journey: Prospect to Admitted, Admitted to Enrolled, and Enrolled to Graduate. The Associate Director utilizes UVU metrics of completion, quality, and efficiency and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to online student satisfaction to measure and demonstrate impact of our efforts with online students. The ADLE leverages the Online Learning Consortium Scorecards and other external reports, as well as internal student data, focus groups and timely, targeted surveys to gather online student, faculty, and staff voices to shape and prioritize initiatives designed to positively impact these KPIs and the learner experience.
The Associate Director recognizes that the learner experience is multi-faceted and that expertise and responsibility for elements of impact are distributed across UVU. The ADLE develops a comprehensive view of university policies, systems, processes, technologies, and resources that impact the learner experience. The ADLE emphasizes the building of professional relationships and partnerships to collaboratively assess and optimize systems, processes, services, and support for students in fully online programs.
The Associate Director is mindful of online learners and various subpopulations that frequently make up fully online student enrollments, including underrepresented students, and takes action to support and encourage access and attainment. The ADLE understands the demands and challenges that online learners may face while attending UVU and is committed to helping students thrive, persist and complete. The ADLE creates institutional awareness and visibility of online student needs and preferences. The ADLE identifies, develops, encourages and makes readily available the use of resources and intervention tools/strategies that faculty/staff can utilize to create value and effectively guide and encourage online students toward successful course and program completion. The ADLE also works closely with the Office of Student Success to organizationally position Learner Guides to effectively and efficiently journey alongside fully online students from prospect to graduate.
*This position is eligible to work remotely (Hybrid Eligible) 1-2 Days per week. Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related field plus a minimum of two years of directly related experience OR any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling six years.

  • Knowledge of higher education organizations, particularly in areas of academic and student affairs.
  • Fluent in support structures for student success and common causes of stopping out.
  • Fluent in institutional resources, processes, and organizational entities supporting student success.
  • Conversant in faculty, student, and staff roles in delivering and engaging in effective learning environments; methods to improve completion rates.
  • Conversant in the demographic profile of UVU’s student body and of fully online learners.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize, implement, and facilitate summits, trainings, workshops, programs, and informational presentations.


Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree plus three years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience OR any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling nine years.

Physical Requirements:
Work generally associated with an office environment.
