In partnership with the Assistant Director of Employer Relations and the newly created Assistant Director of Career Systems position, the Employer Relations Specialist focuses on employer development to increase student engagement. Successfully implement standard operating practices for internal staff and external partners surrounding employer approvals, job postings, events, and career fair logistics (on-campus and virtual). It is imperative that the Employer Relations Specialist become a power-user within Handshake, the Syracuse University Career Service’s CRM platform. This position consults with career staff and students from each of the 9 undergraduate schools and colleges on how to achieve the best employment outcomes as a result of their academic program and engages with employers on how to get the best recruiting outcomes from our student populations. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of experience is required.
Strong knowledge and understanding of employer relation strategies.
Must be capable of maintaining Handshake career services tool. Job Specific Qualifications
  • Experience implementing standard operating practices as it relates to programs and projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and detail-orientation.
  • Experience working with international students and employers is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a challenging and fast paced, collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to work within tight and often conflicting deadlines.
  • Must be flexible, show effective judgement, and discretion.
Responsibilities
  • Proactively contact existing and prospective employers and alumni interested in hiring at the internship and entry level.
  • Encourage engagement with current students by increasing the quality and quantity of employers actively recruiting at Syracuse University. This includes coaching best practices and effective marketing to employers.
  • Liaison between employers and student organization leaders, to facilitate diversity recruitment efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross campus partners to effectively create campus recruitment activities throughout the academic year (immersions, career fairs, networking programs, employer visits, etc.)
  • Serve as the offices first point of contact for all Career Fair related logistics (on-campus and virtual).
  • Serve as main point of contact for recruiters trying to post positions.
  • Develop approval process for employers, events, and position requests in Handshake.
  • Investigate and address potential fraudulent employers in Handshake.
  • Collaborate with cross campus partners to effectively create campus recruitment activities throughout the academic year (immersions, career fairs, networking programs, employer visits, etc.)
  • Serve as the offices first point of contact for all Career Fair related logistics (on-campus and virtual)
  • Serve as main point of contact for recruiters trying to post positions.
  • Develop approval process for employers, events, and position requests in Handshake.
  • Investigate and address potential fraudulent employers in Handshake.
  • Pro-actively market student and employer success stories, career events, and jobs & internships; primarily using Handshake emails and social media channels.
  • Develop employer relations strategies, events, and opportunities for international student population.
  • Record interaction notes with employers in Handshake.
