Summary
VCU School of Nursing is seeking a Business Manager to manage the business operations of the School, including procurement, travel, monthly reconciliations, p-card transactions, endowment distributions, journal vouchers, payroll management, and revenue and expense tracking. This role also serves as a resource to faculty and staff in the School regarding VCU and SON policies and procedures. The Business Manager will work closely with the Associate Dean for Business and Administration to develop and manage operating budgets in the School and tuition revenue projections under the Responsibility Center Management (RCM) budget model.
Other general duties include:
- Working collaboratively across departments in the School to understand needs and priorities
- Providing guidance and support to the research administration team
- Developing and maintaining relationships at the University level that are critical to the success of the School
- Serving on committees and task forces as appropriate related to the position
- Providing exceptional customer service to SON faculty and staff
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree and at least five (5) years of relevant experience in financial management and administration
- Experience developing and implementing multi-year financial plans, annual operating budgets, data analysis, and fiscal operations management
- Ability to problem-solve and develop creative solutions
- Ability to engage and take a team-oriented approach to work that encourages collaboration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access)
- Experience with procurement policies and procedures
- Prioritizes excellence in customer service
- Experience using Banner Finance
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to address complex matters effectively
- Experience in a state agency/university in Virginia or a higher education setting with an RCM budget model
- Experience with the use and compliance of a University Purchasing Card (P-Card)
- Experience with Chrome River travel processing and current VCU travel policies and procedures
- Experience with sponsored programs rules and regulations related to procurement
- Experience working with foundation funding, both current and endowed
- Supervisory experience of one or more employees
