Summary

Resource Advocate

VCU School of Social Work is hiring a full-time resource advocate for a one year grant funded youth and young adult shared housing program for LGBTQ+ youth, pregnant and parenting youth and youth at the intersection experiencing homelessness.

Typical Duties

This staff member will work with 15 program participants to assess their needs in order to get into permanent housing and access the resources necessary to support goal achievement. After housing has been secured, the resource advocate will continue to work with the youth individually and in peer support groups to assist them in achieving their goals that promote housing stability. The resource advocate will conduct re-certifications with youth every 3 months. The resource advocate will also serve as a liaison between the program and program partners as well as maintain appropriate documentation.

Restricted Position: timeframe – July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023

Typical Education and Experience

Requirements:

MSW or BSW with 5 years of experience in the field
Basic computer literacy – Microsoft Office
Mediation skills
Experience and high level of comfort working with LGBTQ+ youth, pregnant/parenting youth, and/or youth of color

Preferred Qualifications:


Lived experience expertise regarding homelessness
Familiarity with Richmond area & local resources
Expertise in housing law including fair housing
Experience and/or training in trauma-informed care or restorative practices

Salary Range: $60,000 annual salary, non-negotiable, grant funded
