CS GRADUATE PROGRAM MANAGER

Salary:

Minimum $53,700 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.

Job Summary:

The Department of Computer Sciences is recruiting for a Graduate Program Manager to join our traditional MS/PhD graduate program. Alongside continuing staff, the Graduate Program Manager is responsible for assisting with admissions, implementing orientation, advising graduate students in degree program progression, implementing community and career development initiatives, and maintaining student records. The position is part of a growing student focused departmental student services unit.

Responsibilities:

Manages the administrative activities of graduate degree program(s) and/or certificate(s). Performs activities which may include: recruitment, admissions, new student orientation, academic advising, monitoring of progress towards the degree, course and/or enrollment management, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, funding, course and/or program assessment, and academic program review. May oversee staff and/or graduate program functions.
  • 15% Serves as the expert resource for applicants, current students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders of an academic program
  • 10% Manages the response, support, and advocacy for graduate students while continuously improving the student experience and overall graduate program
  • 15% Oversees programming, services, and events to promote professional development and academic success
  • 30% Provides comprehensive advising services promoting graduate student success, retention, and degree completion. Advises on programs, graduate education, and university policies, processes, and procedures. Monitors degree progress and assists students in navigating resources and systems throughout the student lifecycle from matriculation to degree completion
  • 5% Manages graduate student funding including, but not limited to, fellowships, scholarships, training grants, or assistantships from department, university, and/or outside sponsors. May prepare and/or submit funding proposals
  • 10% Maintains compliance with graduate program(s), school/college, and university requirements and technology systems related to admissions, assessment, academic degree progress/requirements, and program review. Makes policy and procedure recommendations and/or changes
  • 10% Oversees staff and/or graduate program functions
  • 5% Coordinates recruiting, and yielding efforts and activities
Tasks:
  • Assist with program recruitment and admissions efforts in coordination with department staff and faculty, Graduate School, and external partners.
  • Serve as lead contact for students enrolled in traditional grad programs including addressing enrollment, course access, communicating policies, identifying concerns that affect academic performance, graduation, and connecting to other campus service
  • Remain up to date on relevant campus policies and revise program policies to be in compliance with campus guidelines.
  • Plan and implement programming for students related to student success and post-graduation planning.
  • Maintain program websites, handbooks and other informational pieces.
  • Build relationships with external partners such as Graduate School and Office of International Student Services.
  • Identify areas for growth and development including ways to continue to promote diversity and inclusion within program(s).

Qualifications:

- At least one-year full time or equivalent, of experience in college/university student services, administrative employment, college/university teaching, and/or graduate education required.
- Demonstrated high level of cultural competency in working with students from diverse backgrounds, particularly international student populations.
- Experience working in Microsoft Outlook and Excel, Google Documents, and web-based software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Professional written and oral communication skills; ability to organize and communicate complex information effectively.
- Commitment to fostering a respectful, effective, collegial work environment through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
