Visiting Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering

Gannon University's School of Engineering and Computing seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering beginning August 2022. The initial appointment is for one year. The ideal candidate will be committed to excellence in innovative undergraduate education and will have significant professional or research experience in solid mechanics/materials science, with laboratory experience and/or computational background a plus. The successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, lead student projects, prepare motivated students intellectually, professionally, and personally, and advise students. Subject to performance review and the need of the program, the position may be converted to a full-time tenure track position after one year.

Qualified candidates will be expected to engage in scholarly activities in keeping with the Boyer Model of Scholarship appropriate to the application and receipt of tenure and promotion at Gannon. Requirements include a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field (completed by August 1, 2022); teaching experience in higher education is preferred. Candidates must be able to support and promote the University's inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity, and its liberal arts and professional education traditions.
