National University seeks a dynamic, innovative, and entrepreneurial leader with a strong commitment to distinction in higher education.

National University is the founding institution of the National University System (NUS), which includes National University (NU), Northcentral University (NCU), and the City University of Seattle (CU). Currently, NUS is undertaking a significant milestone in its history. The Board of Trustees (BOT) of NUS, NU, and NCU have decided to consolidate these three brands under the NU brand pending applicable regulatory approvals. The BOT seeks an accomplished individual to head the combined institutions as president & CEO (president) and implement a progressive, evolving strategy for growth.

The President of National University is the institution’s chief executive officer, responsible for all operations of the University, including overall leadership and guidance of the institution, its academic programs, fundraising, financial stewardship, student safety and success, and the development of and administration of resources. The President will be responsible for fostering partnerships and co-ventures in public and private sectors, as well as strengthening cross-institutional collaboration within the System.

To be successful and guide the institution to the next level of excellence, the President, as NU’s chief representative, must build relationships with a wide variety of external constituencies and will be expected to hold institution leadership to the very highest standards of conduct. Moreover, the President will champion racial and social justice, and diversity in all its forms, foster student success, and ensure student safety and security while exemplifying the character and ethics expected in a highly visible, trusted university and community leader. 

In order to serve as an effective and inspirational leader for National University, the next President must engage faculty, students, staff, and the greater community in the development of an ambitious, forward-thinking shared vision for the future. When thinking about outreach and programming, as well as improving relevance to and visibility within the global learning community, the president must consider the diverse student body and multiple campus locations.

The President must have a record of leadership accomplishments, or progressive senior administrative experience. Although not essential, an earned doctorate, or terminal degree will add strength to a candidate’s qualifications. Candidates from non-academic sectors, who have non-traditional but comparable skill sets, will be fully considered.
