The Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit is seeking a Psychometrist who will provide data through the administration and scoring of structured and semi-structured diagnostic clinical interviews of treatment and research participants. This role will also meet regularly with research investigators, psychiatrists and psychologists to discuss study inclusion/exclusion and appropriateness for study participation. Provide specialized individualized counseling as required by research protocols.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Conducting structured and
semi-structured clinical interviews assessing DSM-IV and DSM-V
psychiatric diagnoses, HIV-related risk behaviors (sexual and drug
related), antisocial and other Axis II disorders, and detailed drug
use and associated problems related to
addiction.
Conducting structured and
semi-structured clinical interviews assessing delirium and other
changes in Mental State in geriatric patients identified as
surgical candidates.
Identifying and recruiting
of subjects into studies according to well-defined protocols. This
includes making initial contact with voluteers (or their
representatives), explaining study procedures and obtaining
consent. Subjects are recruited from substance abuse treatment,
community outreach and/or hospital admission
records.
Providing information
obtained from diagnostic interview to investigators, and clinical
staff and making appropriate referrals to Doctoral level staff
where indciated.
Providing counseling
according to treatment research protocol. This may require
specialized training in specific therapies (i.e., Prolonged
Exposure Therapy). Attendance at appropriate clinic meetings to
discuss patient care issues.
Coordinating with
recruiting, counseling and hospital personnel for scheduling
patient admissions, intake and follow-up
appointments.
Becoming expert on new
technology used in research protocols. Requires regular contact
with IT departments of various manufacturers including but not
limited to Medminder, Pilleve, WHOOP, Actigraph, NOX etc. Will be
required to cover on-call patient support as scheduled to handle
live trouble-shooting of devices.
Assisting in the training
of new interviewers and Research Program Coordinators by
participating in didactic discussions, observing interviews and
providing feedback on administration and
scoring.
Spreadsheet development,
data entry, double entry and data verification as
assigned.
Serve as backup for other
research protocols as needed, including data collection and
management.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
- Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology or related discipline.
- Graduate coursework in psychological assessment.
- Some experience (externship or internship O.K.) in a patient setting, doing clinical work or clinical research.

Preferred Qualifications:-
At least one year of
psychological testing experience.
Experience with geriatric
populations and delirium training desired, controlled research
trials and interviewing and assessment techniques
preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills to gather and interpret data for assessment of patients and prepare reports. Must be well organized, precise, and detail-oriented.
- Must have excellent social skills and clinical judgment.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills and required.
- Knowledge of SPSS, Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of psychometrics and ability to perform basic statistical analyses. Experience with computers required, Mac preferred. Experience with Excel, Powerpoint, RedCap and Qualtrics reqired

certification as a Psychology Associate in the State of
Maryland.
