Southern Arkansas University invites applicants for a non-tenure track position of Visiting Theatre Director/Assistant Professor of Theatre. Candidates with specializations in directing, movement, and voicework are ideal.

Housed in the Department of Performing Arts and Mass Communication, the Theatre program offers B.F.A. degrees in Performance with emphases in Theatre and Musical Theatre. 

Duties: contribute to the revitalization and continued growth and success of the Theatre department by teaching, directing, and fulfilling administrative duties; teach a course load that would include the Acting I-IV rotation, Creative Dramatics, Dialects and Accents, Directing, Performance in Shakespeare, and other related courses in performance; contribute to the mainstage production season directing plays and/or musicals; teaching load will be a twelve credit hour workload of classes, actively participating in the season planning process, budgeting, attending scholarship auditions and departmental meetings and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: MFA in Performance, Acting, or Directing required; extensive directing and/or performance credits at the academic and/or professional levels required; outstanding communication collaboration skills and abilities; two (2) or more years of college-level teaching experience preferred; demonstrated skill as a voicework, movement teacher and theatre director preferred; experience and familiarity with curriculum development, advising, recruitment and season planning; professional voicework or movement credits and/or certifications; professional and academic memberships or certifications; record of community-engaged teaching or extra-curricular activities.
