Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) at the
Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, located in
Ames, Iowa, invites applications for a term faculty position at the
rank of Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor. This is a
full-time, 9-month position with salary commensurate with
qualifications. The successful candidate will support
undergraduate, graduate and veterinary students emotionally and
academically. The primary responsibilities of this position will be
to develop a new undergraduate laboratory-based veterinary anatomy
course that will help prepare future professional students by
providing hands-on veterinary anatomy instruction The candidate
will also teach and develop comparative anatomy instructional
materials and support laboratory instruction for veterinary anatomy
courses in the professional curriculum (BMS 330 and BMS 331). There
is also an opportunity to assist laboratory instruction in an
undergraduate human gross anatomy class. Iowa State

Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD, DVM, MD, or equivalent degree
Recent teaching experience (within the past 3
years).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to instruct undergraduate,
professional, and graduate students.
- Advanced training in animal cadaver-based
laboratory.
- Experience developing anatomy curriculum for
professional students.
Department/Program & College
Description:
The BMS department supports the College of Veterinary
Medicine’s mission through teaching and basic science curriculum to
veterinary medical students, conducting state of the art basic and
translational research relevant to the health of animals and
humans, and educating graduate students through the BMS graduate
program and a number of multidisciplinary interdepartmental
programs at Iowa State University. Department faculty have
active research programs in a range of One Health disciplines
including clinical and translational pharmacology, and neurobiology
with an emphasis on neurodegenerative disease and neurotoxicology,
microbial and helminth infectious disease, immunology, and cell and
molecular biology.
