The Health & Well-Being Institute ( https://extension.wisc.edu/health/ ) works to catalyze positive change in Wisconsin residents through evidence-based and community-engaged health promotion programs to improve health, build community capacity to identify and address health inequities, engage in collective action, and achieve greater health equity.

FoodWIse ( https://healthyliving.extension.wisc.edu/programs/foodwise /) advances healthy eating habits, active lifestyles, and healthy community environments for families with limited incomes through nutrition education at the individual, community, and systems levels. FoodWIse is federally funded by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) and Expanded Food and Nutrition Program (EFNEP) grants.

About the position:
The Nutrition Administrator is an integral member of the Marathon, Portage, Wood, and Clark Counties FoodWIse team. Nutrition Administrators are responsible for staff training and supervision, program planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting, and developing and managing the local program budget. The Nutrition Administrator works closely with nutrition educators and partner agencies to plan and implement interventions that improve healthy food access and make healthy food and physical activity choices practical and available to community members with limited income.

Responsibilities:

Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.
  • 20% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • 5% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
  • 10% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
  • 5% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
  • 5% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 15% May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
  • 20% Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
  • 5% Communicates plans, activities, and achievements to Area Extension Director, Program Managers, partners, and relevant stakeholders
  • 15% Supervises program staff and resolves personnel issues

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree
in a field relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position such as nutritional sciences, dietetics, community health education, public health, family and consumer sciences, social work or related field

Qualifications:

Required:
-At least 3 years of relevant work experience in the area of programming and service delivery.
-Experience supervising and managing staff.
-Demonstrated understanding of and ability to work cooperatively with other agencies and community-based organizations.
-Experience managing multiple tasks, timelines, and schedules while maintaining high quality work.
-Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of methods and technology.
-Demonstrated use of problem-solving skills to successfully address complex issues.
-Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional work environments.
-Ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.
-Demonstrated commitment to the goals and values of Extension's commitment to equity and social justice to support opportunities and outcomes for youth, families, and communities

Preferred:
-Experience in budget development and fiscal management.
-Demonstrated skills in developing, implementing, and evaluating direct education programs and policy, systems and environmental change interventions designed to support behavior change.
-Demonstrated skills in interpreting, utilizing, and applying evidence-based information and research findings.
-Demonstrated experience developing effective partnerships or coalitions with community partners and local governments.
-Demonstrated ability to think creatively, identify root causes, systems of influence and synthesize interdisciplinary approach to conceptualizing and addressing health equity work.

Additional Information:

-The primary accountability relationship for this position is the Area 7 Area Extension Director for supervision, compensation and benefits, and performance reviews.
-This position's primary programming focus is Marathon, Portage, Wood, and Clark Counties; however, some programming may also be conducted over a broader geographical area.
-Expectation to make arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions.
-Work evenings or weekends as needed to meet programming needs.
