Responsibilities:
- Placement Duties
- Build and maintain a network of relationships with local school district partners for the purpose of placing students in classrooms for observation hours and student teaching
- Visit schools annually with Division Chair to strengthen these relationships
- Send emails and make phone calls each semester to arrange student placements
- Build relationships among our Division of Education alumni to cultivate them as future host teachers and to encourage a pipeline of future Education majors
- Work with program completers and local districts on post-graduation employment
- Certification Duties
- Learn and keep current in NYSED requirements for Initial and Professional Certification
- Work with current and former students on their certification needs
- Maintain familiarity with NYSED required workshops, locations, and availability, tracking student completion
- Maintain familiarity with fingerprinting process, advising students on location and procedure
- Coordinate student TEACH accounts in which they compile their certification requirements
- Serve as University liaison to Office of Teaching Initiatives
- Develop and maintain a relationship with the local BOCES certification officers for both Allegany-Cattaraugus BOCES and Greater Southern Tier BOCES
- Maintain familiarity with NYSED required certification testing
- Track student progress on state exams for Education Division Accreditation process
- Work with students on certification process, including contacting OTI with student questions and problems
- Dispense program and content codes to current and former students
- Additional Duties
- Support duties to Education faculty
- Speak to Seminar classes on certification timelines, progress
- Keep records – data base of current and former students
- Work with out-of-state reciprocity guidelines and compliance
- Know LiveText
- Utilize Candidate Preservice Assessment of Student Teaching (CPAST) form for assessment purposes
- Submit Title II Reports
- Provide support for accreditation tasks
- Formal Education: Associates degree
- Minimum of two years of secretarial experience preferred.
