ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Director of Lewis & Clark Community Counseling Center is responsible for the management, program development, mission fidelity, and daily operations of an off-campus mental health counseling center.

The Community Counseling Center is the primary practicum and internship training site for four graduate programs in the Counseling, Therapy, and School Psychology (CTSP) department. The Center serves over 200 clients per week by providing both in-person and telehealth counseling, family therapy, and art therapy services to the Portland metro area and the broader Oregon community.

The CTSP department at Lewis & Clark College is grounded in a strong commitment to equity and social justice. We are looking for a colleague with the requisite knowledge and expertise who shares our vision and commitment to these principles.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Collaborates with the CTSP Department Chair and clinical faculty in Professional Mental Health Counseling, Professional Mental Health and Addictions Counseling, Marriage, Couple and Family Therapy, and Art Therapy programs to ensure successful clinical training of graduate students, while offering high quality treatment to individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  • Manages operations of the Center: maintains client files; creates, communicates, and manages center policies and procedures; oversees facilities and technology resources; supervises the Assistant Director and graduate student workers; oversees scheduling of client appointments; manages client payment portal and monitors collection of fees; provides back-up supervision for student clinicians.
  • Works closely with program clinical faculty to ensure supervision coverage is continuously available to student clinicians. Works closely with the Department Chair and program directors to ensure daily operations meet best practice expectations.
  • Oversees the Center's electronic health record system, telehealth systems, and audio/video recording systems.
  • Works with the Department Chair and Finance & Operations Director to develop and monitor the Center's budget. Maintains responsibility for meeting revenue goals.
  • Engages in outreach and collaborates with community agencies and stakeholders. Develops and maintains relationships with community partners. Markets the Center to the public and treatment community.
  • Provide clinical supervision to practicum sections in the absence of a clinical supervisor as assigned by the Director.
  • Responsible for the coordination, recruitment, training, supervision, development, and evaluation of 4-7 Clinic Graduate Assistants.
  • Seeks and successfully secures external funding, including service contracts and grants that contribute to the fiscal success of the clinic, while providing opportunities for student learning and community service.
  • Develops and implements quality assurance mechanisms and treatment outcome measures.
  • Collaborates with CTSP faculty on designing and implementing clinical research projects.
  • Develops and maintains ongoing strategic plan for marketing, community engagement, service delivery that addresses client diversity, quality assurance, and other Center goals, as determined in collaboration with the Dean, Department Chair, and clinical program faculty.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree
  • Oregon license as an LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or Licensed Psychologist (or licensed within two years of employment). Clinical supervision experience and/or training at a level required to competently meet all position requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience with electronic health record systems, telehealth systems, and audio/video recording systems.
  • Experience managing mental health care services for an agency or institution
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to unlicensed mental health providers.
  • Three years’ experience supervising staff with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships within the team.
  • An understanding of student development and counseling and family therapy theories.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff, clinical supervisors, and faculty, including active collaboration with appropriate community and business personnel.
  • Demonstrated capacity for clear, cogent communication. Ability to communicate effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, as well as to key stakeholders in the broader community.
  • Ability to reduce barriers to mental health care in a multicultural environment and to provide assessment and clinical care for a diverse client population.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in social justice oriented mental health service delivery.
  • Three years of administrative and operational experience in a clinical setting.
  • Three years of post-graduate clinical experience providing mental health services to individuals, couples, and/or families.
  • Ability to carry out responsibilities in alignment with the social justice mission of the Graduate School.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Doctorate degree
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across counseling and therapy fields.
  • Track record of success in program development and successfully securing external funding.
  • Strong PC skills, including extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • State-qualified clinical supervision.
