Job Description

IHD is a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UC EDD) emphasizing four core function areas: Research and Evaluation, Interdisciplinary Education and Training, Community Service, and Information Dissemination. The Technical Training Analyst, Senior is a key Institute for Human Development ( IHD) position responsible for leadership and technical proficiency in the core function area of Information and D issemination.

This person will bring compatible core values, a record of strong communication, leadership, and technological experience to lead and assist in the development anddissemination of resources andinformation. This positioninvolves inter- and trans disciplinary techniques and requires a collaborative and growth mindset.

This position reports directly to IHD's Executive Director and partici pates as a key member of the leadership team. IHD is an interdisciplinary unit and the oldest Institute at NAU. IHD is housed in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences on the campus of NAU in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Essential Functions

Communication & Content Dissemination - 30%
  • Manages the development and production of the internal and external communication products and tools to include: publications, promotional materials, and web-based communications.
  • Develops communications strategies and ensures stakeholders and constituents have access to accurate information.
  • Ensures all materials and products are accessible, relevant to the target audiences (including cultural appropriateness) and meet limited English Proficiency needs.
  • Develops, manages, and supervises the IT aspects of the Institute's community outreach, promotion, social media, media relations, and public relations.
  • Leads and maintains state of the art dissemination activities that demonstrate accessibility across technology platforms and formats of products and materials.
  • Maintains and improves all IHD websites with a high focus on the AIVRTTAC websites. Prompts and leads updates to IHD website for new projects and project changes through WordPress
  • Disseminates information through listservs and social media outlets to inform and engage consumers and self -advocates
  • Develops and implements measures to assess the effectiveness and impact of IHD's dissemination products and training formats.

Technology, Training, & Technical Support - 30%
  • Provides support, technology resources and technological support to eLearning staff, the Director, IHD staff and partners across a variety of softwares and devices.
  • Support includes troubleshooting software and device issues.
  • Informs and trains co-workers on current technologies
  • Assists with IHD client and project events that require registration, zoom observation coordination, recordings, and report read outs.
  • Provides the technological support for all IHD webinars.
  • Provides A/V support for IHD trainings, conferences, presentations, meetings, and classrooms. Moderates local, state, and national webinars.
  • Responsible for the coordination of onboarding new hires regarding computers and technology.
  • Provides IT support for the delivery of evaluations, surveys, and modules
  • Archives material, communication, and reports via a Network Attached Storage device and cloud-based systems.
  • Performs video production and editing.
  • Provides desktop support and troubleshooting.
  • Stays abreast of new and innovative technologies that might be used to advance the Institute in areas of training, research/evaluation, and community services.

Operations & Administration - 10%
  • Serves as an internal and external point of contact to respond or forward questions.
  • Advises Executive Director of and placescomputer/technology purchase orders.
  • Manages and updates several listservs
  • Maintains inventory
  • Expands current product base with state- of the-art audio-visual tools, websites, social media, and electronic and/or digital platforms based upon analyzed data.
  • Manages IHD monthly update communications
  • Provides survey reports and analysis to the Executive Director and Core Function leadership team.
  • Survey data analysis may be used for reports and to inform project direction.

Relationship Management - 5%
  • Maintains contacts and relationships with local, state, and national offices and agencies while participating in special interest meetings.
  • Acts as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders regarding dissemination and communication.
  • Partners with the college and university departments to build the Institute brand, promote the Institute, and ensure communication and technological compliance.

Center Leadership & Strategy - 10%
  • Serves as one of the four Core Function directors, which includes providing Center leadership input toward achieving IHD's vision, mission, objectives, and goals.
  • Contributes to strategic planning and implementation efforts
  • Provides regular updates and recommendations regarding dissemination benchmarks, technology needs, and national trends to the Executive Director and Associate Director.
  • Participates in the Consumer Advisory Committee Interdisciplinary Training Council, and Core Function Director Leadership meetings.

Supervision - 5%
  • Provides mentorship, leadership,and supervision to student employees and part time temporary employees.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling, assigning tasks , and timekeeping. Responsible for performance management.

Other - 5%
  • Supports and manages special projects/programs related to communications and technology that further the mission of the Institute.
  • Other duties as as asigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, including s upervisory experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in technology, communication, or another related field.
  • Experience designing materials and products
  • Experience creating media and PSA releases.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in the disability field.
  • Experience making dissemination materials accessible.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of communications tools, technologies, data segments, processes, and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with different constituencies and ability to work with individuals or groups with diverse backgrounds and experience level.
  • Demonstrated experience with program coordination and management.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of technologies to effectively support, end -user technical needs, including computing devices, operating systems, peripherals and a variety of software applications (browser-based, desktop, client -server).
  • Knowledge of best practices for communications in higher education, including email creative, segmentation, dynamic content, testing methodologies, deliverability, and adherence to applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • High interest and aptitude for continually increasing knowledge and stay abreast of the latest technology advancements.
  • Knowledge of university IT support services and maintenance methods and processes.

Background Information

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. Salary

Anticpated salary range is $62,996 - $78,745. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

Benefits

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System; paid vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. More information on benefits at NAU is available on the Human Resources benefits website. Classified Staff employees are in a probationary status for their first six months at NAU. NAU is a tobacco and smoke-free campus. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. Additionally, new employees will begin participating in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date.
