Position Summary:
Appointment to this rank requires proof of advanced study in the field in which the instructor will teach, the promise of teaching effectiveness, and satisfactory recommendations. Instructors have charge of instruction in assigned classes or laboratory sections under the general supervision of the departmental administrator. When they are engaged in teaching classes with multiple sections, the objectives, content, and teaching methods of the courses will normally be established by senior members of the faculty or by departmental committees. Instructors are expected to assist in the general work of the department and to make suggestions for innovations and improvements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry
- Evidence of outstanding teaching ability
- Ability and desire to teach courses in the Chemistry freshman sequence
- Effective oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to teach undergraduate Organic Chemistry courses
- Ability to motivate students
- Ability to interact effectively with large classes
- Personal enthusiasm for chemistry and teaching
- Ability to work effectively with students and professional colleagues at the University of Idaho
