Database Analyst/Virtual Learning Environment Administrator

 

Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Database Analyst/Virtual Learning Environment Administrator in the Office of Information Technology Services.

 

Duties will include, but are not limited to: customize, maintain and support open source solutions including but not limited to learning/virtual/content management systems (e.g. Moodle, NextCloud, etc.); integrate open-source and designated enterprise solutions into the existing environment; provide technical support in the development, enhancement, and maintenance of open-source solutions; provide troubleshooting, resolution, and update; serve as Tier 3 support for Client Support Services area to maintain necessary system support services and functionality with minimal service interruptions or downtime; may cross-train other IT staff as required for business continuity; serve as a primary technical lead to implement and maintain Single Sign-On solutions for assigned in-house and cloud systems, such as ADFS and SAML protocols; assist with the support and customization of Unix/Linux servers; assist supervisor by contributing input to improve operational procedures, processes, and standards as well as change management, in alignment and collaboration with ITS goals and objectives to advance the University mission; ensure and maintain information security and confidentiality; utilize University/ITS/individual resources and time effectively to accomplish tasks and projects; and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and work experience in systems development and maintenance, technical support, or the support of database management systems is required.  A bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.  A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; relevant experience in a related field or equivalent education, training and experience are preferred. Three (3) years of experience with common programming language such as PHP & JAVA and database-driven content/learning management systems, experience working with large existing code bases and/or open-source products, and Course Management System administration experience is desired.

Database Administrator I (AM42/61122278/FTE-S00586P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 06. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.  Flexible work hours required to include night and weekend hours.
