A Data Coordinating Center (DCC) located in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Department of Epidemiology seeks a Research Data Analyst to work as part of a study team comprising epidemiologists, statisticians, project coordinators and clinical investigators. The DCC coordinates collection, management, and analysis of data for multicentered, longitudinal clinical cohort studies. The Research Data Analyst will work primarily on an ongoing nationwide cohort study of children with chronic kidney disease.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

    The Research Data Analyst will assist senior study coordinators and investigators with ongoing study conduct and coordination. Primary duties will include: designing and implementing data collection forms, communicating with clinical sites regarding data collection and quality, developing and implementing tracking systems to monitor and report study progress, maintaining centralized data files for the analysis of study results, performing quality assurance activities, preparing scientific presentations and providing scientific content for social media accounts. Opportunities to assist with primary data analyses and co-writing publishable manuscripts for scientific initiatives will also exist as the Research Data Analyst grows in their role. As a member of the data coordinating center team, the Research Data Analyst will have broad oversight by faculty members of the team, including Dr. Derek Ng and Mr. Christopher Pierce. Over time, degree of independence and opportunities to grow knowledge of and engage in scientific and epidemiologic investigation is expected to increase.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

    Bachelor’s Degree is required. 3 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

    Prior experience in study management and coordination is preferred, but not required.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Attention to detail and willingness to grow in the job is required as are strong written and oral communication skills. Candidates must be team-oriented and collaborative. Prior work experience or training in elementary statistics and quantitative reasoning – including exposure to statistical software - is an advantage. Ability to exercise critical thinking to solve problems and improve existing operational procedures is preferred. Some traveling required. The individual will be responsible for multiple initiatives at the same time and must be self-directed and able to work efficiently.

Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications:

    Experience with/exposure to statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Stata) is an advantage, but not required. Candidates need to be open to learning how to run existing programs and doing basic code modification to carry out tasks.

Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
