Under the newly minted division of University Marketing & Communications, the Office of Marketing Communications creates proactive, innovative, and comprehensive marketing, communications and branding strategies that highlight Drexel’s academic strengths and research, while emphasizing the value and potential of the experiential education model. The Office of Marketing Communications works closely with colleges, schools, academic and administrative staff throughout the University to create comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that serve the University’s overarching branding, recruitment and retention goals to meet or exceed the enrollment and revenue objectives. The Office of Marketing Communications defines, protects, and disseminates the Drexel University brand while clearly illustrating its unique value proposition.

The Associate Director of University Relations is a critical member of the Office of Marketing Communications. This position reports to the Executive Director of University Relations in overseeing the project management and operations function of the Marketing Communications Team as well as liaising with the academic units and other key stakeholders across the university. The Associate Director of University Relations is responsible for the management of all project timelines, material traffic, office structure and process, communication plan inventory, the management of approval process, and production throughout the Enrollment Management & Student Success division as well as the University in general. This division includes Admissions, Drexel Central (student services), University Registrar, University Bursar, Office of Financial Aid, Steinbright Career Development Center, Student Life, Enrollment Analytics, and Athletics. Office of Marketing Communications also supports all major University marketing and branding initiatives in which this role will support. In addition, the Associate Director of University Relations will be the lead contact for all vendor management. This includes overseeing financials, print and digital estimating, and major production schedules regarding commercial/broadcast production, print management, online development, and more. While not a creative role, the position may support the creative staff by executing simple content edits, photo and video sourcing and management, reviewing and creating print specifications and ensuring print production quality control according to industry standards. This role may include updating pre-existing files from designers, preparing artwork for printing, and other related tasks.

The Associate Director of University Relations will lead major University marketing initiatives, direct strategic planning sessions, and collaborate in the creative process. This role will serve as a key liaison of the Office of Marketing Communications University-wide.

The Associate Director of University Relations will directly manage Project Managers and Events and Operations Managers. The role also will manage and will be supported by co-op positions and the student work study program. The role will set and manage internal and external meetings and provide agendas/conference reports for all assignments. Basic office manager duties are also required.

Essential Functions
  • Interact with divisional team leaders as well as, academic, and various colleagues within the institution to provide strategic recommendations and support the timely delivery of product.
  • Day-to-day includes supervising the management of workflow from Project Managers, approvals, organizing content changes, traffic flow, and act as overall knowledge base for project assignments.
  • Work with Associate Vice President, Marketing, Executive Director, University Relations, and Executive Creative Director to develop strategic marketing recommendations and manage executions for offices University-wide.
  • Supervise internal Project Managers and Events & Operations Managers to develop project timelines and drive oversight of key projects to meet project milestones.
  • Supervise co-op positions and the student work study program.
  • Support team PM software solutions, calendar development and production, internal communication strategy, including calendar creation and support internal staffing for events.
  • Manage complex commercial, video and photography shoots.
  • Collaborate with creative staff to manage production vendors (print/web/etc).
  • Recommend and implement new systems and procedures that allow tracking projects from beginning to end to ensure on-time delivery of materials.
  • Provide best practice process and production guidelines/support for colleagues via online and print efforts in order to set and maintain expectations.
  • Support team in developing marketing research methodologies and reporting on trends to the team and colleagues.
  • Maintain office workflow and management to ensure team works at an efficient and effective pace.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Project management in a creative/communications field
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Adobe Creative Suite
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams PM tools
  • Interactive project management experience
  • Experience with Dreamweaver
  • Experience with Adobe Premier
  • Microsoft SharePoint
  • Experience with Content Management Systems and/or CRMs
  • Working knowledge of print production process
