Job Summary
The Benefits Specialist – Communications, Leave of Absence, and Retirement participates in the design and delivery of communications for the Total Rewards programs and is responsible for general leave of absence administration. In addition, this role serves as a backup for the Retirement functions and employee consultations. The role reports into the Senior Benefits Consultant Retirement, Compliance and Communication and dotted line reports into the Senior Consultant, Leave & Disability Resources.

Essential Functions
- Design and draft Total Rewards Communications - multi platform
- Participate in strategy development
- Collaborate with University Communication department
- Ongoing announcements
- FAQ’s
- Guides with Consultants
- Benefit Enrollment Landing Pages
- Drexel One and the Drexel HR websites
- Training/informational decks
- Collaborate and participate in the Open Enrollment Communication Strategy
- Participate in the design and delivery of Benefit materials for
New Hires
- Collaborate with Talent Management on design/delivery (L&D and TA)
- Project Manage the Communication workstream of all Benefit projects, Open Enrollment and vendor changes and implementations
- Create and maintain a compliance and communication calendar
- Leave of Absence Administration
- Track and report leave hours for those on leave for each pay period
- Review and perform actions required according to the daily reports generated from the third party leave administrator
- Prepare and input electronic personnel action forms (ePAF’s)
- Monitor the Leave of Absence email box, communicating status to employees and leaders
- Act as backup to Senior Consultant, Leave & Disability Resources
- Other duties, reporting and project participation needed
- Backup for Retirement Plan administration and Benefit employee consultations
- Perform other duties, reporting and project participation needed across Total Rewards.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 2 years of relevant experience
- SHRM-CP, or CEBS preferred
- Master's Degree preferred
- Excellent Communication skills – verbal and written
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Excellent planning and organization skills
- Experience in administering employer group health and welfare plans
- Knowledge of ERISA, ACA, FLSA, FMLA. DOL and IRS regulations regarding Health and Welfare and Retirement Plans and FMLA
- Program and Project Management
- Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with a broad range of Human Resources and University partners.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends when required.
- Group Facilitation experience required, preferably in a university campus setting
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
- Ability to collaborate with vendors and consulting partners
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
