The College of Health, Arts, and Sciences at Oregon Tech, an Oregon public university, is seeking candidates for a one-year writing instructor to teach in the Communication Department beginning Fall 2022 (start date negotiable, but Fall 2022 strongly preferred).

 

This Instructor will primarily teach general education courses in academic, professional, and technical writing. The teaching load is 14 credits each term.

 

The successful candidate will be a committed, passionate, and effective teacher. The successful candidate will be expected to serve at the departmental level to maintain quality academic curriculum, and to pursue appropriate professional development to maintain excellence in teaching.

 

The Communication Department is dedicated to its 18-credit general education program, and Oregon Tech values and rewards excellent teaching.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • A. in Rhetoric/Composition
  • Experience teaching college-level composition courses with a focus on rhetoric and academic writing

OR

  • MA in a related disciplinary field with a minimum of 30 graduate quarter credit hours in Rhetoric/Composition
  • Experience teaching college-level composition courses with a focus on rhetoric and academic writing

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • PhD in Rhetoric/Composition or Technical/Professional Communication or a closely related field
  • Excellent technology skills (MS Office, Adobe Suite, WordPress or other contemporary desktop productivity and publishing tools)
