Position Purpose
This position works as part of the Dartmouth Library Research Data Services team to develop and deliver a robust suite of research data services to meet and advance research and curricular needs at Dartmouth. The person in this position will coordinate, develop, and provide computational research project support, with a focus on advanced computing environments and collaborations, and assist in the development and implementation of research data infrastructure across Dartmouth.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp
Bachelors plus 6 or more years' experience or combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
● BA in quantitative or related field + 5-7 years experience, or; MA in a quantitative or related field + 3-5 years, or; PhD in a quantitative or related field
● Demonstrated knowledge of programming/ scripting languages and analysis applications (e.g., R, Python, SAS, SPSS )
● Willingness to learn new programming languages, statistical analysis tools or other relevant tools as needed
● Experience with preparing data for analysis, visualization, and other procedures
● Demonstrated knowledge of data management, curation, and preservation principles and practices
● Demonstrated knowledge of open data, data repositories, and the data life cycle
● Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member to solve problems
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
● Excellent analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience with data tools and services, including HPC, in a research library or academic/research setting
● Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan, coordinate, implement, and assess complex programs, projects, and services.
● Professional experience working with research data and/or in an academic library

Key Accountabilities
Description
Develops and implements cutting-edge and advanced quantitative methods and techniques in both statistics and programming as needed to support more computationally-intensive research projects. Works in conjunction with faculty and Information, Technology & Consulting ( ITC ) staff to develop, program, review, or troubleshoot custom analyses and workflow pipelines and to leverage Dartmouth’s computing infrastructure to optimize and complete multiple short- and long-term research projects. Ensures that indigenous, culturally, or personally identifiable sensitive data adheres to relevant protocols and informed best practices.

Assists in the development of data and analysis project support in a dynamic and collaborative academic library environment. Assists faculty, staff, and students on comprehensive data analysis and visualization projects from conception to dissemination. Coordinates with partners in various campus and library departments to facilitate the use of extended and contextualized research data services and infrastructure.

Provides instruction, outreach, and consultations on advanced computing concepts for faculty, students, and staff to expand computational research skills (including data discovery, curation, management, storage, analysis, visualization, and preservation) as needed for curricular or research projects.

In partnership with the Head of Research Data Services and related teams, assists in the development of a comprehensive platform and suite of advanced technical services and infrastructure to support and advance interdisciplinary digital scholarship at Dartmouth.

Monitors trends and best practices in library and industry-based research data efforts, with an emphasis on open data/software and ethical data use. Recommends and facilitates improvements to existing programs and services, and participates in internal training and professional development for Dartmouth Library and related staff.
