Position Summary:
Job SummaryOverall responsibility for warehouse/ stock operations, shipping and receiving. Manage control numbering system to charge items against buildings, grounds and vehicle account numbers. Serve as an authorized UPS shipping clerk, for shipping and receiving packages.
Specific Responsibilities
- Be responsible for maintaining inventory controls and accounting procedures for disbursement of supplies and payment of invoices for all stock items.
- Verification of goods and materials received with appropriate invoices and purchase orders, noting any discrepancies or damage, and informing Purchasing Office of same.
- Notify requisitioning departments of order arrivals and arrange delivery.
- Maintain control and coordinate records on stock inventory and all items in storage.
- Prepare periodic reports as required.
- Work with sales representatives to obtain product and price information before ordering cleaning, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and auto supplies.
- Develop new and/or improved methods for optimum efficiency and cost control.
- Work with director and associate director on specifications for ordering supplies, equipment, and programs for improvements within the department and services offered.
- Prepare shipments for UPS and various trucking companies.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Assure that safety rules and regulations are followed within stock operations areas and maintain cleanliness and order.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesThe ability to receive and interpret instructions and to maintain a flexible work schedule. Sound knowledge of storage, record keeping, inventory methods, and procedures of purchasing for a college/university setting.
Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
ExperienceWarehouse, shipping and receiving department experience preferred. Experience with PC-based inventory system and/or purchasing preferred.Additional RequirementsThis position requires a valid driver’s license, and the ability to drive and qualify under the university’s insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle. Physical Demand
Frequently uses various machinery as well as hand and power tools associated with the electrical trade, and working at heights from ladders, and high lift equipment. Will frequently lift heavy weights, work in all weather conditions, and on occasion, work in electrical manholes, and other confined spaces.
