Graduate Program & Communications Coordinator

About the Opportunity

Responsibilities:

The Graduate Program & Communications Coordinator will serve as administrator of all graduate programs in the Department of English and manage communications and marketing related to both the undergraduate and graduate programs. This position reports to the Chair of the Department of English, with a dotted line to the faculty Graduate Program Director. The position will work closely with the college marketing and communications team as well as the CSSH graduate office.

This position will be the lead on graduate student services and will be the first point of contact for all graduate students, serving as Administrator of the graduate program in the Department. The Graduate Program & Communications Coordinator works closely with the Graduate Program Director and will advise students and ensure that any questions or inquiries are resolved in a timely and professional manner. They will serve as point of contact for prospective students, ensure the admissions and selection process moves smoothly, and manage the program calendar and any student policies and procedures. The Coordinator will maintain various databases of prospective and admitted student information and monitor student progress toward degree. They will project and monitor doctoral travel reimbursement and pre-admissions event spending and handle all administrative responsibilities related to the graduate program including recruitment, admissions, course offerings, progress towards degree, SGA awards, and scheduling.

The Graduate Program & Communications Coordinator will manage outreach, publicity, and social media initiatives for the undergraduate and graduate programs in the Department of English; lead efforts to publicize student experiential learning, co-op and career paths, course offerings, alumni news, and events; manage departmental website, print and social media related to the Department of English.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and three to five years of experience in administrative positions, preferably in higher education. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required as well as social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat. Database and website management skills required, particularly with WordPress and Salesforce experience. Knowledge of Banner and Adobe Creative Cloud desired but not required. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff. Must be able to work independently, multi-task, and work to deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills required. We seek a proactive individual who is an excellent problem-solver and is interested in learning new software systems and administrative processes.
