Position Summary

The Career & Life Design Center seeks a high energy, passionate professional, who takes initiative in problem solving and delivering extraordinary service to students, alumni, parents/families, and faculty/staff to fill the position of Assistant Director of Career & Life Design.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Career & Life Design, the Assistant Director will coach students and recent graduates who express interest in exploring, preparing for and pursuing careers in business, consulting, finance, commercial real estate, sales, and related fields. Developing business community resources and educating students on industry-specific skill development, the Assistant Director will help students navigate hiring timelines, positioning oneself as a competitive candidate, and crafting alternative routes to finance by staying current on career trends and labor market information.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of three years relevant professional work experience career coaching students entering finance or business-related careers – OR Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of three years relevant professional work experience working in consulting or finance and an illustrated ability to coach and advise undergraduate students.
  • Knowledge of hiring timelines, desired competencies and qualifications, industry-based skills development for undergraduates entering finance and consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced office setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with program management and event planning.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills required.
  • Experience working with diverse student and alumni populations including first generation students, international students, and adult learners.
  • Experience administering career assessments (Focus2, Gallup Strengths).
  • Familiarity with career management platforms (Handshake).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Familiarity with Design Thinking and Life Design Methodology.
  • Experience with virtual career coaching delivery methods (Zoom, Teams).
