To cultivate academic success and personal development for international students and scholars, ISSS aims at providing quality services and programs to the university community by educating, advocating and training while complying with federal regulations governing international education exchange.

Summary/Objective

Th e Immigration Data Manager ensures system compliance and mandatory SEVIS reporting for the F and J non-immigrant communities for immigration compliance with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of State (DoS). This position works with the Director to monitor regulatory changes; prioritizes and communicates their impact on university’s systems; and manages projects for successful interface with the SEVIS system of (DHS). Considerable authority is delegated to this position for systems analysis and business process review, ensuring SEVIS compliance. The Immigration Data Manager prepares periodic reports with student and scholar data on immigration and compliance matters.

Essential Functions
  1. Regulatory Audits and SEVIS Compliance: Monitors and maintains systems compliance with SEVIS upgrades, works with the OIT and the ISSS Director to ensure timely upgrades are done in the university systems. Collaborates with colleges, departments, academic units and the SEVIS help desk to identify, document and report irregularities and r e co mm e nds poli c i es a nd pr oc e dure s that en su re both the uni v e rs it y and its F1 and J1 non-immigrant populations are in compliance .
  2. Project Managementand Systems Training: Provides project support to the Director on various systems, including business process improvements, implementation of new applications and modifications. Works with internal and external constituents such as ISSS staff, OIT, admitting and academic units, the Office of the Registrar, and the SEVIS Help Desk to identify additional system functionalities and reporting needs for maintaining accurate student records in all systems to ensure compliance.
  3. Advising: Th e Immigration Data Manager monitors regulatory updates affecting F and J nonimmigrant visa categories, advises, counsels, and serves as referral agent to international students, scholars, other university offices and funding sources on all legal aspects concerning work privileges, travel, program extension, family matters, change of status, academic activities, personal and cultural adjustment issues, and other related matters, which affect the international population in these categories. As the Alternate Responsible Officers for the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program and Designated School Officials for the F-1 student program, the Associate Director creates immigration documents and conducts periodic SEVIS reporting on new and returning student and scholar immigration compliance.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong Excel and other Microsoft Office experience
  • Comfort learning new technologies
  • Comfort with creating and maintaining documentation
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with Sunapsis and Ellucian Colleague Systems
  • Preferred experience at an educational institution with F and J nonimmigrant categories
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent customer service, diplomatic and public relations skills
