SUNY Cortland faculty are responsible for contributing to an academic community dedicated to diverse learning experiences. This is accomplished through outstanding teaching, research and/or scholarship, service to the department and college, and by providing academic advisement and mentoring to our students. Faculty are expected to maintain a routine presence on campus to support our Campus Values of Focusing on the Students, Integrity, and Intellectual Life and serve our Campus Priorities of Academic Excellence, Transformational Education, Well-being, and the Maximization of Resources. Major Responsibilities
Teach four courses per semester and hold appropriate office hours. Functional and Supervisory Relationships
Works under the direct supervision of the department chairperson. Works closely with the department chairperson, faculty and staff within the department. Additional working relationships with faculty and staff in other college departments. Required Qualifications
Ability to teach Sociological Methods, Introduction to Sociology, Sociological/Criminological Theory, and/or comparative (global) criminology, Ph.D. or ABD in Sociology or related field required. Preferred Qualifications
Ability to teach electives in the sociological field and/or crime and crime policy from a critical sociological perspective. EEO Statement
