Job Description

The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Inclusive Engagement and Constituent Relations (AVC-IECR) is a critical member of the Division of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (IDE) leadership team. The AVC-IECR reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Inclusion, Diversity and Equity and provides service to both internal and external stakeholders of the University through oversight of the following:
  • The Office of Inclusive Engagement: OIE promotes co-curricular activities and community outreach while providing resources and services that support the academic and professional pursuits, personal development, wellness and involvement of stakeholders from underserved and underrepresented groups.
  • The Department of Social Justice: (DSJ) provides essential spaces on campus, striving to create environments and offer programs, services, resources, and opportunities that contribute to a sense of belonging for underserved and underrepresented students, faculty and staff. DSJ contributes to the academic, social, educational, cultural and personal development of students. Additionally, DSJ provides advocacy, education and support for students, faculty and staff. DSJ is also home to several student organizations and provides employment and training opportunities for students.
The incumbent will be expected to perform the following tasks:
  • Engagement through advancement/fund raising activities, premier events and signature programming to support division goals.
  • Serve as a liaison between division and key internal and external committees.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of signature IDE events including the annual MLK Celebration and designated heritage and thematic monthly celebrations.
  • Coordinate IDE mini-grant and sponsorship process.
  • In the absence of the Vice Chancellor, represent IDE at select community events throughout the state.
  • Work closely with student affairs, enrollment management and other divisions to promote diverse student engagement and outreach.
  • Develop strategic plan for Inclusive Engagement that will increase stakeholder engagement and participation.
  • Work closely with the Director of Strategic Communications to increase brand awareness and division recognition.
  • Develop annual engagement plans, strategies, budgets, etc. for the Inclusive Engagement Unit, ensuring alignment with other functional and university strategies.
  • In coordination with Human Resources, develop appropriate strategies to increase participation in employee resource groups (ERGs) and create opportunities for new ERGs.
  • In coordination with Institutional Advancement, identify strategic partnerships for resource development.
  • Participate in and make recommendations to short- and long-term strategic planning of programs, services, etc.
  • Direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual university problems, applying advanced critical thinking and/or drawing from expertise and experiences.
  • Ensure continuous quality improvement of initiatives and programs.
  • Partner closely with the Academic Access and Leadership Development (AALD) unit within the Division of IDE to create strategic partnerships throughout the region.
Salary

$100,000-$130,000

Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree in a relevant area and 10 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired OR a Bachelor's degree in a relevant area and 12 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree such as an MBA, JD, EdD, PhD, etc. and leadership experience within a complex organization.
