Job Summary/Basic Function

Perform variety of commercial custodial duties: operate scrubber and buffer; clean bathrooms, windows, walls, floors and furniture; empty trash; vacuum and wet mop; shovel snow and sweep walks; assist in maintaining building entrances; move furniture and equipment; perform other custodial duties as required.

Housekeeping staff may be required to work evenings and weekends. This position is designated an essential employee position. Employee is expected to report to work during their designated shift during emergency situations, university closures or delays.

Annual Salary Range: $28,577.00 plus comprehensive benefits starting on the first day of employment, including:
  • Health insurance – Low bi-weekly premium. Employees pay 5% of bi-weekly salary for benefit coverage with ability to pay 2.5% when participating in the wellness program.
  • Dental insurance – Coverage is free to employee and dependents after 90 days
  • Vision insurance – Coverage is free to employee and dependents after 90 days.
  • Group life insurance – equal to annual salary (up to $40,000.00) at no cost to the employee
  • Retirement – 2 plans to choose from
  • Tuition waiver – employee, spouse, and dependents are eligible
  • Vacation leave – up to 11 days accrued per year for first 3 years, increases to 19 days per year after 3 years
  • Sick leave – up to 11 days accrued per year, including up to 5 days per year that can be taken to care for a family member
  • Holiday leave – Up to 12 days per calendar year

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to read and understand written directives, instructions, procedural manuals, warning and special handling labels and safety precautions

Preferred Qualifications
  • Related experience
  • Knowledge of the materials, methods, equipment, and practices used in related custodial operations such as floor care, restroom service, trash and recycling collection and disposal, laundry distribution, window washing and glass care, snow removal, event set ups, dusting, mopping, vector control, etc.
  • Knowledge of safe, aseptic cleaning, sanitation, and custodial quality assurance procedures.
  • Knowledge of the operation, use and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines, and other cleaning equipment.
