Job Summary/Basic Function

Millersville University of Pennsylvania is recruiting for a Director of Adult and Continuing Education. The person hired for this position will be responsible for coordinating intersession programming (winter and summer programs), adult learning offerings, and off-campus programs (Dixon and Ware Centers) and overseeing related staff and budgets.

Annual Salary: $68,000.00 – $78,000.00, plus comprehensive benefits starting on the first day of employment, including:
  • Health insurance – Low bi-weekly premium, with coverage starting on the first day of employment for employee and all dependents.
  • Dental insurance – Coverage is free to employee and dependents with coverage starting on the first day of employment.
  • Vision insurance – Coverage is free to employee and dependents with coverage starting on the first day of employment.
  • Group life insurance – Equal to annual salary (up to $50,000) at no cost to the employee.
  • Voluntary Group Life and Accident Insurance – Available for purchase at low rates for additional employee coverage as well as coverage for spouse and children.
  • Long Term Disability Insurance – Available for purchase at low rates with either a 90 or 180-day waiting period.
  • Retirement – 2 plans to choose from.
  • Tuition waiver – For employee, spouse, and dependents.
  • Personal leave – Up to 6 days per year.
  • Vacation leave – Up to 10.4 days accrued per year for first year, increases to 15.6 days per year after 1 year.
  • Sick leave – Up to 15.6 days accrued per year, including up to 5 days per year that can be taken to care for a family member.
  • Holiday leave – 12 days per calendar year.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • Five years of a progressively responsible professional-level background in a higher education.
  • Experience in academic scheduling, program budgeting, and program or facility coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience:
    • in assessing, monitoring and meeting the needs of diverse student groups in online, blended, off-campus and traditional modes of delivery.
    • at high levels of client/customer contact and ability to work with diverse populations of non-traditional students, faculty/staff, and community groups.
  • Strategic orientation and planning capabilities.
  • Ability to think at the organizational and system levels.
  • Creative problem solving and decision making capabilities (analytical/strategic thinking, critical/conceptual thinking, flexibility, and adaptability); tactical response.
  • Ability to impact/influence diverse group of constituents; strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Sensitivity to and how to work within the university culture.
  • Strong planning, development, implementation and evaluation skills.
  • Purchasing, personnel, fiscal management, marketing, and facilities management skills.
  • Team leadership and supervisory skills/experience.
  • Prioritizing and fiscal management such as cost-benefit analyses.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful completion of three background checks.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with course scheduling.
  • Prior experience using specific systems including Banner and SAP .
