Under the management of the Director, the Associate Director of Financial Aid serves as the department leader for outreach and advising in a hybrid learning and work environment. This position creates, implements, and guides outreach and advising efforts in support of equitable student success for a wide range of diverse students. The incumbent in this position provides training and mentorship for developing staff skills in areas such as cross cultural communication, de-escalation, and student-centered advising. This position will collaborate with external agencies, community partners, and college departments to create and deliver a comprehensive outreach and advising plan and referral channels.

Additional responsibilities include direct supervision over staff, the day-to-day operations of the financial aid office, and one or more specific programs. As a member of the Financial Aid Leadership Team, the incumbent will participate in mid-range and long-range planning, assist with the development of policy, and advise on project objectives, technologies, systems, timelines, schedules, funding, and staffing. The incumbent serves as a liaison to campus committees and external agencies as assigned, provides leadership and represents the Financial Aid Office and PCC on committees and initiatives, as well as through state, regional, and national association activities.

● Demonstrated experience building strong connections, partnerships and collaboration between departments, community partners and agencies for the purpose of providing outreach opportunities, referral channels, and wrap-around student support.

● Demonstrated experience leading outreach and advising initiatives utilizing multiple communication modalities in a hybrid environment. Ability to utilize communication methods that effectively engage and support diverse student populations. Ability to model strong written and verbal communication skills.

● Demonstrated facility with using data, research, and assessment outcomes for decision-making, planning, implementing and taking continuous improvement actions for operations, programming, procedures and services. Familiar with best practices in supporting students' navigation of Financial Aid processes and systems.

● Recognizes systemic inequities for historically disenfranchised students and the need to address systems, processes, and practices to close opportunity gaps. Demonstrates a personal commitment to being a change agent and understands the role the Financial Aid Department plays in student access and success.

The candidate must be adaptable and have the ability to effectively lead their team through a time of change at the college.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Administration, Counseling, or related field.
  • Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Three years progressively responsible experience related to area of assignment, including two years of supervisory experience in financial aid or program management.
Position Grade J Starting Salary Expectations Minimum $65,713 to range midpoint of $80,496. Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Position Grade Salary Range $65713 to $95282 Annual Salary FTE 1 PCC Benefits

PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. After one year of management or confidential service, PCC also provides a 2% contribution to a 403(b) account for eligible management and confidential personnel. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work is typically performed in an office environment. Incumbents may drive to meetings or events, which requires the use of a personal vehicle. Work may involve outside community outreach activities. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Physical exertion is not a normal requirement of the job. Background Check Required Yes
