Established in 1887 as a school for the education of American
Indians, The University of North Carolina at Pembroke serves a

The Bursar’s Office is a section of the Controller’s Office.
It is composed of four units:
(1) Cashiering,
(2) Student Accounts Receivables,
(3) Student Accounts Collections and
(4) Electronic Commerce
The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership and
subject matter expertise for the units. This position is
responsible for the overall operations of the units, for
maintaining the integrity of University receipts and student
financial data within the University’s Banner Student and Finance
systems as well as providing internal and external management
reports.
This position is classified as Mandatory Employee:
Mandatory Employees: Employees whose presence has been determined
to be mandatory to University operations during certain types of
adverse weather or emergency events.
Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:
A four-year degree in accounting, business administration, or other discipline that would provide a core curriculum in financial management course workFour years of accounting experience with at least two years including management and/or supervision.
·A thorough knowledge of basic accounts receivable processes, financial aid processes, and general accounting theory and practice.
This position must have knowledge of and ability to explain and apply the provisions of the Standardized Accounting Practices adopted by the state.
Must have ability to assist in interpreting and analyzing accounting data and applying that analysis to the office or university needs and determine compliance with federal, state, and university guidelines, rules, regulations and laws.
A high level of verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
The ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and good organizational skills are essential.
Supervisory skills, ability to use personal computers, and proficient skills in the use of software packages such as: WordPerfect, MS Word, and Excel are required.
Training in the area of management systems, customer service, fund accounting, personal computer software, and ad-hoc report writers is critical. Management Preferences: Master’s degree in Accounting or related field, 4 years or more management and/or supervision, experience in higher education, student accounts, Banner software, and TouchNet Cashiering System.
