SOMA - Equipment & Technology Specialist



A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) invites applications for a non-exempt Equipment & Technology Specialist on the Mesa, Arizona campus. In collaboration with the clinical skills courses this individual will provide technical support for all anatomy technology and simulation operations including preparation, maintenance, and repair of computerized manikins (software and hardware), task trainers and related multimedia peripherals. The Equipment and Technology Specialist will also provide technical and set-up support for ultrasound labs and IQ Groups faculty as needed.

Job Duties:

1. Provide technical support for the medical school within A.T. Still University’s Mesa campus in relation to
anatomy, simulation, and medical imaging.
2. Consult and assist in the design, implementation, and operation of technology-based anatomy and imaging
learning experiences.
3. Assist students and faculty with preparing for and conducting technology-based anatomy and imaging lab
activities, including providing technology support during anatomy lab and exam sessions.
4. Assist with set-up and break-down of labs in the anatomy wet laboratory; testing and keeping log of air
quality during wet lab activities.
5. Technical support in the operation of simulation technology and related educational design.
6. Assist students and faculty with preparing for and conducting simulation-based and ultrasound lab learning
experiences.
7. Manage and update simulation materials and consumables by ordering equipment and supplies for all
experiential learning labs.
8. Maintain equipment and systems, including trouble-shooting equipment, updating operating systems, and
resolving system problems with the manufacturer.
9. Manages set up/tear down for labs and utilizes space to give the best overall experience to
students/faculty.

Skills/Experience:

1. High school plus one year technical training or schooling in a related field or equivalent hands-on experience
2. Desire to learn or interest/experience with new technologies such as extended reality
3. Broad understanding of technology applications and troubleshooting abilities
4. Proficiency in MS software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and Database use.
5. Work requires occasional heavy physical lifting of equipment and management/utilization of advanced medical devices.
6. Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications relevant to anatomy, medical imaging, and/or simulator functions preferred.
7. Basic knowledge of networking and firewalls preferred.
