Position Summary:
The research aide performs pre-established research procedures. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision. Performs research activities and other tasks as necessary in a research environment. Records observations and measurements and reports results. When applicable, is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining research space and equipment, and assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials along with ordering and stocking of materials and equipment.

Technical support for Wheat Breeding and Genetics Program located at the Aberdeen Research and Extension Center, Aberdeen, ID. Individual will offer general assistance to the breeding staff and to the operations of the breeding activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Collecting and recording data following pre-established procedures or protocols.
  • Using a computer to collect and record data.
  • Accomplishing goals or completion of projects in a team environment.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science or a related field.
  • Large field equipment operation, such as combine and trailer.
  • Hands-on research experiences in small grains cultivar development.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Lift, carry or otherwise move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.



Required Licensures, Certifications or other
  • Have a valid driver’s license and able to successfully pass a driver’s record check.
  • Have pesticide applicators license or be willing to obtain one within six months of hire.
