Position Information

Position Title Assistant Director of Undergraduate Advising, Student Services, & Admissions Overview
Serve as an academic advisor for 250-300 first-year and second-year business majors, by serving on and representing the PCSB on campus-wide academic advising committees, and providing related student services. Essential Duties:
Serve as an academic advisor for 250-300 first- and second-year business majors. Participate in all new student orientations (first-year and transfer), meeting with each individual student in preparation for registration, and providing holistic advising (e.g., career coaching, advising students on majors, minors, tracks, pathways, the Friar Leadership & Immersion Program ( FLIP ), and experiential learning opportunities). Review midterm and end-of-term grades, monitor academic progress, probation meetings, advising on campus policies, and advising for study abroad, etc.

Responsible for the PCSB’s involvement in admissions events, and the development and execution of new K-12 initiatives aimed at increasing the academic quality of incoming business majors, as well as the enrollment of more underrepresented students in the PCSB .

Plan, facilitate, and coordinate as needed with other PCSB staff on the delivery of the Introduction to Business curriculum (weekly content) for new advisees, including planning speakers, skills workshops, and supporting FLIP requirements, etc.

Serve as the administrative advisor to a PCSB club/organization, and support the Friar Leadership & Immersion Program ( FLIP ).

Serve on PCSB committees, attending meetings, commencement and graduation, assisting in PCSB events (e.g., BGS induction, End of the Year Celebration, etc.) Marginal Duties:
1. Perform all other duties as may be required. Education and Experience Required
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution required. Higher education, business, or counseling preferred
  • One to two years’ experience within a university setting with student services experience (e.g., admission, academic advising, orientation, career counseling experience), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Substantial working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using SIS, ideally Banner
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and strong team orientation
  • Ability to work with various constituencies, including corporate partners, vendors, prospective students, parents/guardians, current students, alumni, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to think strategically in the delivery of programs and services
  • Must possess strong organizational skills
