Position Information

Position Title Associate Dean of Global Education Overview
In conjunction with the Dean, provide leadership for the Center for Global Education and represent CGE in the absence of the Dean. Essential Duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
1. Serve as designated study abroad advisor for the School of Business (represents 45% of all students on a semester study abroad). Engage in advising (individual/group) with approximately 350 students per academic year to review program options, eligibility, study abroad policies, course selection/articulations to meet students’ academic requirements ( CORE, major/minor, PCSB experiential learning). Manage application process/review, and liaise with PCSB faculty/staff regarding program and student updates. Facilitate communications between PCSB faculty and students and study abroad program representatives. Compile and submit rosters for CEA and DIS programs, both of which have large PCSB student enrollments. In conjunction with the Dean and PCSB faculty, plan/conduct site visits to current/prospective study abroad programs for review and potential addition to the approved program list for PCSB students. (30%)
2. Prepare both internal and external communications for CGE with the Dean. Articulate/explain CGE policies for home school tuition and academic credit policy and maintain the appropriate documentation/information in the study abroad application system and website. Prepare updates/content for parent newsletters and other campus communications. Maintain content for CGE website and Horizons/Simplicity study abroad application/data management system. Oversee social media postings/use by student staff. Prepare annual IIE Open Doors report, Forum on Education Abroad reports, and gather data for other units on campus. (20%)
3. Support the Dean with international student and scholar services ( ISSS ) responsibilities by advising a subset of international students and serving as the institutional Designated School Official (F-1) and Alternate Responsible Officer (J-1). Maintain students’ SEVIS records and files and issue new/updated I020s/DS-2019s as needed. Coordinate advising/services/support for international students with other stakeholders on campus. Assist with event planning for international students. (20%)
4. Develop, facilitate, and/or execute campus-wide programming for both study abroad students and internal students, including but not limited to International Education Week, annual study abroad fair, information sessions, pre-departure and re-entry events, international student orientations, and events sponsored by Admissions and other campus stakeholders. (15%)
5. Provide leadership and oversight for CGE in the absence of the Dean to ensure the smooth functioning of daily operations and represent CGE when the Dean is unavailable. Coordinate study abroad student advising and event schedules for the study abroad advisor(s), student staff, and global ambassadors. Supervise student workers and volunteers. (10%)
6. Manage Santander Grant application review and award process each semester and liaise with the Office of Institutional Advancement on grant reporting and related activities. (5%) Marginal Duties:
Perform all other duties as may be required. Education and Experience Required
  • Master’s Degree, preferably in international education, higher education, student affairs, or another related field, from an accredited institution
  • Five to seven years experience preferably in a college/university setting with demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience studying, living, and/or working abroad
  • Experience with third-party study abroad program service providers and program types
  • Knowledge of best practices in education abroad—student advising/support services (pre, during, and post-experience), financial aid/scholarships, health/safety, student outreach, diversity and inclusion (with assessment/student learning outcomes as preferred)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with diverse faculty and staff
  • Excellent communication skills (written, spoken, intercultural)
  • Effective time management and the ability to meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced work environment; sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Experience working with international students/scholars
  • Strong technology skills (MS Office, web editing, social media, Horizons (or similar))
  • Experience with data collection, management, and reporting
  • Professional engagement in international education ( NAFSA, Forum on EA, Diversity Abroad)
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends and travel both domestically and internationally
