Position Overview:

Performs general maintenance duties for the Nigh University Center. Duties include light carpentry, basic electrical, tile work, drywall, painting, grounds maintenance, HVAC, and/ or basic plumbing. Performs setups to accommodate the needs of customers while remaining in compliance with all University policies and procedures. Assist employees with internal moves. Maintain waste/recycling receptacles. May work with outside contractors. This position reports to the supervisor of Campus Enterprises maintenance.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

The Nigh University Center serves as the town square of Central's campus by providing high-quality convenient services and amenities that continue to meet the changing needs of the UCO community and the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. It is essentially the doorway to the campus and within its 221,721 sq. ft. of interior space, it houses Enrollment Services, Career Services, the Food Court, a full-service restaurant, Starbucks, a bookstore, and bank as well as the Conference and Events Office that manages 25 meeting rooms and over 37,000 square feet of available space. Perform work involving the skills of general maintenance and repair to keep the Nigh University Center in good working order.

Preforms up-keep of equipment including preventative maintenance duties and repair. Performs tile setting, drywall, painting, locks, and hardware repairs. Performs general maintenance and repair to interior and exterior doors, cabinet doors and drawers. Utilizes basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems to determine and properly communicate the scope of repairs needed. Performs routine plumbing maintenance. Assist with moving furniture or other items as needed, including employees who move internally. Assist with furniture set up of conference rooms as needed. Performs general clean-up after each job and assists in the cleaning of hard to reach areas in the atrium. Performs other related duties as assigned.

**NOTE** The general schedule for this position is 40 hours per week and will require work in varying shifts at times; it may be necessary to respond to weekend and after-hours emergencies within the Nigh University Center.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience Required:
  • Performs administrative or manual tasks.
  • Requires general education or vocational training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to work independently or as a member of a team, depending upon project needs. Good base knowledge of all phases of maintenance and repair and the tools and techniques utilized for various projects. Must work and coordinate with a variety of individuals (students, staff, and specialized trade technicians) through verbal and written communication to diagnose, repair, and/or follow-up on maintenance requests and preventive maintenance projects. Knowledge of and ability to use different hand tools and specialized equipment commonly used in repair and maintenance work.
