The Director of Admissions is the chief recruiting officer for the
University. The Director provides leadership for admissions,
marketing, and orientation functions; is responsible for developing
and maintaining systems to strategically recruit first-time
freshmen and transfer students; and fully participates in and
wholly supports the division of Student Affairs and Enrollment
Management (SAEM).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides dynamic, creative, developmental, and student-centered leadership for critical enrollment functions; administers quality customer-oriented services consistent with University policies and regulatory, regional, and national standards
• Develops and maintains a strategic plan for enrollment services with a genuine commitment to student success, growing enrollment, and supporting diversity
• Uses demographic and student analytics to recruit college-ready students
• Continually investigates and develops ways to meet enrollment goals and improves services to prospective and enrolled students; plans and administers enrollment services budgets consistent with achieving University goals and objectives
• Oversees admissions and support orientation functions, ensuring aggressive recruitment of both traditional and non-traditional students and high quality applicant processing and service
• Works in close collaboration with the Scholarship Committee, Athletics, auxiliaries and Financial Aid to promote, review, and award scholarships
• Develops, coordinates, and oversees “one-stop shopping” enrollment model in conjunction with other units (i.e. housing, financial aid) for newly admitted freshmen and first-time transfers
• Serves as the liaison between enrollment services and academic program personnel, including consultation with academic deans and Undergraduate Student Success Center. Develops plans to achieve targeted enrollment growth within new programs and those with low enrollment
• Produces and distributes progress reports on enrollment goals
• Works collaboratively with all areas of the campus community utilizing data-driven strategies to effectively leverage human, financial, and technological resources to recruit students consistent with the SAEM strategic plan
• Actively recruit a diverse student population
• Fosters and supports the ongoing development of staff by providing orientation, training, performance coaching, continuing education, and professional development opportunities
QUALIFYING FACTORS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
-Significant experience working within an integrated strategic academic enrollment management model
-A demonstrated record of using technology and data in developing and implementing an effective recruitment plan
-A proven track record in establishing successful partnerships with academic units and all other constituencies
-Ability to communicate clearly and effectively Minimum Qualifications •Excellent organizational, interpersonal, human relations, financial management, analytical, and team building skills
•Able to acquire and use student profiles and other analytics to inform decisions
•A genuine commitment to diversity and student success
•The individual must be able to work with traditional and non-traditional students and adapt to a schedule involving evening and weekend commitments
•A positive, “can do-will do” attitude is a must Preferred Qualifications • Masters degree in a related area required
• Five or more years of progressively responsible management experience in a higher education setting
• Successful experience leading and managing a college or university admissions program.
• Experience with Banner or other data systems software programs
