COLLEGE RECRUITER - CRSS SUCCESS PROGRAM GRANT FUNDED
MALCOLM X COLLEGE
Illinois faces a statewide crisis in behavioral health access due to its inadequate workforce capacity. Strengthening the behavioral health workforce requires alignment of resources and enhancement of career pathways that allow behavioral health centers to attract, train, and retain providers in Illinois. Post-secondary education programs for individuals to successfully obtain either Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential is one aspect of broadening and strengthening the pipeline for individuals to enter the behavioral workforce.
Awarded in December 2021 by the IL Department of Human Resources, the intent of this grant is to develop curricula that meets the training standards outlined in the IL Certification Board Peer Recovery Support Training Program Accreditation Standards for Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) and implement developed program.
The initial term of the grant in through 6/30/2022 with the ability to extend through 06/30/2024.
The position is responsible for recruiting new students for City Colleges of Chicago (CCC).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Contacts and meets high school counselors and teachers to
explain the benefits of a CCC education.
- Participates in classroom visitations and other special events
to explain CCC to potential students.
- Provides information regarding admissions requirements and
program benefits to prospective students and parents via phone,
mail and personal visits; follow up with mail or phone call as
appropriate.
- Assists new students with the application process and explains
career options.
- Produces follow-up reports regarding activities and future
recruiting plans.
- Attends departmental and/or college meetings to maintain
awareness of new educational areas that may be of interest to
college recruits.
- Works with colleagues to coordinate assigned activities with
other programs, departments and outside agencies and
organizations.
- Provides multi-campus support during special events and
tours.
- Works with colleagues in the implementation of special
projects.
- May serve as consultant and resource to internal departments
with recruitment training and new student enrollment process
training via information sessions, committees and professional
development opportunities.
- May develop recruitment plan for academic programs; may promote
and maintain awareness of other student services.
- May coordinate education fairs at local businesses.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Counseling, Guidance, Psychology
or Marketing, supplemented by five (5) years of experience in
marketing, college recruiting and/or promotion required. A
combination of education and professional work experience may be
considered at the discretion of management.
- Ability to organize and implement detailed and complex
projects.
- Must be computer proficient with knowledge of a variety of
software programs. Knowledge of curriculum program offerings and
admissions policies.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and customer service
skills required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for both one on
one interaction and group presentations.
- Ability to work independently under pressure.
- Ability to work well as a team player. Ability to work well
with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Must be self-directed and innovative, able to assess current
operations in an effort to improve the future goals of the
College.
- Must be able to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
