About the Opportunity

Under the Associate Dean, Student Experience in the College of Professional Studies (CPS), the CPS Assistant Director - Student Engagement oversees the College social media strategy, student engagement events (including multiple orientation programs per year: undergraduate and graduate), alumni outreach and assisting the Communications team in highlighting current CPS students and alumni. This role will coordinate all CPS Speakers/topics for the EM Open House events (multiple per year), help with GSE Residencies and Masters Convening's, coordinate and execute student conferences such as UG Connect, as well as own and run all logistics for awards ceremonies (Experiential Awards, etc.) He/she is responsible for gathering and posting content for CPS social media and providing Faculty and staff assistance with event logistics and marketing for Professional Programs and the Graduate School of Education.

30% - Content development and design
  • Act as the social media subject matter expert and lead for CPS - all things related to the student experience.
  • Oversee all logistics and maintenance of digital content in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Student Experience; maintaining up to date information.
  • Co-create and move forward an online digital orientation program that can be sent to all students with pertinent information from across the University.
  • Develop, execute and maintain database for continuous collection of student and alumni stories to share via social media and digital outlets. Collaborate with CPS Communications team on story timelines and strategies.
  • Maintain social media calendar and strategy utilizing office and school calendars to promote events, relevant news, student stories, alumni stories, articles, holidays, etc.
  • Respond directly to social media inquiries across various platforms.


30% - Orientation Program and Events Management
  • Oversee management of all CPS student in-person orientation programs throughout the calendar year (possibly 5 a year), engaging University stakeholders and arranging logistics for a dynamic, organized experience for our new and incoming students.
  • Main point of contact for CPS Open House events; work in collaboration with Enrollment Management and College constituents to organize sessions.
  • Own and execute student conference events, experiential awards ceremony and coordinate the selection of the Student Commencement Speaker each year.
  • Maintain and update the Online Orientation Module/Interactive platform for incoming students.


30% - Event Management and Engagement
  • Work with CPS Faculty to plan and deliver industry specific events involving students, alumni and external stakeholders.
  • Use the Northeastern/CPS brand and voice to develop messaging and daily engagement on Instagram and Twitter for all regional campuses in conjunction with our communications team.
  • Outreach to Alumni for specific event requests including guest speakers and panel events.
  • Assist with CPS specific student-alumni focused events.


10% - Administration and reporting
  • Create monthly social media reports on metrics.
  • Track the submission of materials for dissemination across social media communication avenues from faculty, staff and external partners.
  • Secure the contracts and permissions for use of visual, and other multimedia materials from partners.

Qualifications:

Candidates for the Assistant Director - Student Engagement position must have a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university, with a track record of strong academic performance. Three to five years of experience in an event, marketing or events planning capacity. The ideal candidate will have worked in a customer/student focused environment with digital/social media marketing insights and experience.

Preferred knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator or editing software, Hootsuite and G-Suite. This role will compile communications to students through web platform and other outlets. Detail oriented, multi-tasker that can lead projects and work collaboratively across University Divisions. Effective communication skills that can work well with students, staff, Faculty, Alumni and external partners.
