The Donald Claflin Jewelry Studio is a well-equipped jewelry and
metalsmithing studio for Dartmouth students and is part of the
Hopkins Center for the Arts. The Jewelry/Metals Instructor is a
benefits eligible half-time position and is responsible for the
safe operation, mentorship/instruction and coordination of the
studio space and its students. The position monitors student access
and interaction, maintaining safety, smooth operation, instruction

- Strong organizational and administrative skills.

The Jewelry/Metals Instructor is responsible for teaching studio
participants with varying experience as needed in a broad range of
jewelry/metalsmithing topics. These topics can include design,
fabrication, casting, finishing, enameling, lapidary,
metal-forming, safety and more. Teaching includes an open
studio/makerspace scenario, short, special topic classes and
serving the needs of Dartmouth’s academic community, including
class demonstrations and assisting students with certain academic

In addition to instruction, this role is responsible for overseeing
studio maintenance which can include managing student assistants;
studio cleanliness, making sure that equipment is properly
