Position Purpose

To provide financial and administrative management and analysis for several complex operating and project budgets including multiple funding sources, multi-site research projects, or program projects. Applies a thorough understanding of the principles and practices of financial and grants management in the accomplishment of financial and administrative activities.

Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in accounting or budget/grant management.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, or the equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in not-for-profit accounting and grants management in an educational and/or research setting preferred.
  • Excellent accounting, management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in database management, spreadsheets, and other computer software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience required to financially manage complex research projects.
  • Ability to work effectively, independently, and as a member of a team.
  • Willingness and ability to exercise judgment and initiative and to interact with faculty, personnel, and outside agencies in a professional manner.
  • Flexibility and openness to change.
  • Ability to plan work, set priorities, and respond to pressures, deadlines, and changes in schedules and priorities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain and foster confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to create advanced Excel spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with College accounting systems and procedures.

  • Assists investigators in preparing proposals to funding sources, including development of complex budgets for large proposal submission and ensuring completion of all sponsor and College administrative requirements.

  • Monitors payroll funding levels, preparing and processing FTE distributions based on budgets, maintaining projections on personnel support, and communicating in advance of potential funding shortfalls.
