Auburn University at Montgomery ( AUM ) is seeking a Marketing, Fan Experience & Special Events Coordinator to assist in the planning and execution of events within AUM’s public-facing event calendar, from large scale events to smaller, fan development efforts.

The new Coordinator will report to the Athletics Director and will assist in all aspects of the program, including (but not limited to) all Athletics Department special events such as Student-Athlete Orientation, Hall of Fame Banquet, Homecoming, Warhawks Choice Awards, etc. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, hyper-organized, innovative events coordinator who has experience producing compelling fan experiences that drive engagement and align with key business goals. In addition, the candidate selected will be responsible for the following:
  • Coordinate all pre-game, in-game and post-game promotions for home contests, enhancing AUM’s student-engagement and managing student Rewards Program through the #WeAreAUM SuperFanU App.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Office of Student Affairs, Student Involvement, University Marketing, University Communications, the AUM Bookstore and Conference Services, as well as other university units to conceptualize and develop fan-centric experiences & events that build the AUM brand, expand reach to new fans and increase engagement with existing fan base.
  • Assist with a variety of live entertainment, hospitality, event activations inclusive of: sourcing and contracting vendors, building entertainment sources and drafting run of shows.
  • Coordinate with sports information to develop and distribute promotional content, including design of game day programs, graphics for social media, and billboard graphics.
  • Assist with the management of all elements of experiential and entertainment events; including concept development, floor plan oversight, internal coordination, vendor acquisition and management, event execution and reconciliation.
  • Prepare and manage vendor contracts, payments and staffing plans.
  • Support on-site execution and operations on event day and gameday to include game day event set-up for all sports, oversight of game day operations, scheduling and supervision of student- workers, interns, etc.

Examples of special events to be coordinated around game day include, but are not limited to: Faculty & Staff Appreciation, Military Appreciation, Sponsor Appreciation, AUM Student Giveaway Days, Residence Rumble, Student- Athlete Meet & Greets, Fall, Winter and Spring Sport “Hype Days”, Hoops Madness, etc.
Assist with coordination, implementation and tracking of community outreach initiatives. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Proficient experience in Adobe Create Suite preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and process – strong project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven relationship and people management skills, strong worth ethic, team-oriented, collaborative attitude, enthusiastic about contributing to the success of AUM
  • Organized and driven professional, able to self-motivate and innovate
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Eager and ready to jump in and help, and constantly keep learning
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work event nights, weekends and holidays as required
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Must be able to communicate clear and concise directions
  • Capable of working under pressure and adjusting at the last moment
  • Team player willing to work with all departments and staff
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sports Management or related field with a combination of 1-2 years event project management, experiential marketing and brand activation.
