Reporting to the Dean of Hendricks Chapel, the Hendricks Chapel Operations Specialist/Assistant to the Dean is responsible for facilitating comprehensive administrative excellence to grow the impact of Hendricks Chapel as the spiritual heart of Syracuse University.

The Hendricks Chapel Operations Specialist/Assistant to the Dean provides oversight for all administrative actions of Hendricks Chapel, is responsible for administrative excellence, and serves as primary administrative point-person for the Dean of Hendricks Chapel in relationship to aligning the chapel mission with internal and external campus and community partners. Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit Administration, Human Resources Management, or related fields is required, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Preferred candidates will possess demonstrated success in a fast-paced environment with proven record in advancing strategic priorities. Job Specific Qualifications

Responsibilities
LEAD ADMINISTRATIVE EFFORTS OF HENDRICKS CHAPEL
  • Provide operational vision, leadership, direction, and implementation for all activities at Hendricks Chapel.
  • Align strategic priorities with administrative actions, to ensure the advancement of longer-term and shorter-term projects, programs, services, and initiatives throughout Hendricks Chapel.
  • Ensure Hendricks Chapel embodies an organizational culture of excellence, including attention to detail and consistency of service delivery.
  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of all Hendricks Chapel priorities, functions, relationships, and commitments.
  • Perform a variety of professional and executive level administrative operational duties that facilitate the effective and efficient day-to-day operations of Hendricks Chapel.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of significant and long-range initiatives of Hendricks Chapel.
ASSIST THE DEAN OF HENDRICKS CHAPEL
  • Implement all administrative, budget, event, and communication activities for Hendricks Chapel.
  • Serve as a strategic and confidential advisor to the Dean of Hendricks Chapel.
  • Receive, filter, and disseminate all critical information required for Dean of Hendricks Chapel, to ensure efficient and effective decision-making.
  • Assist with the Dean’s calendar by scheduling appointments, communicating with campus and community partners, and coordinating meetings.
  • Lead and direct all initiatives as assigned by the Dean and serve as primary liaison in relationship to internal and external campus and community partners.
STAFF COLLABORATION
  • Collaborate with all staff and chaplains at Hendricks Chapel to expand the chapel’s presence and impact as the heart and soul of the University community.
  • In collaboration and compliance with the Human Resources, coordinate aspects of hiring, onboarding, and other employee related transaction for Hendricks Chapel.
  • Manage daily activities and services provided to Hendricks Chapel constituencies including solving problems and coordinating operational initiatives.
  • Serve as liaison with university offices, schools and colleges, and external constituencies and organizations with the ability to effectively communicate and execute as needed.
FACILITATE ASSESSMENT AND IMPROVEMENT
  • Initiate, implement, and evaluate internal processes and procedures to align with the administrative standards set forth by Syracuse University.
  • Collect and maintain data related to programs, attendance, and surveys.
  • Make independent decisions in the best interest of the areas, consistent with achievement of stated goals and objectives, and University policy and processes.
  • Provide administrative and operational oversight of initiatives and activities within Hendricks Chapel.
  • In coordination with Budget, Finance & Analytics, assist with the authorization, documentation, and reporting requirements to ensure they are fulfilled and up to date.
  • Provide senior level problem solving while working with information of highly sensitive nature.
