Director of Student Resiliency and Wellbeing
Reporting to the Vice President of Student Life/Dean of Students in the Division of Student Life, the Director of Student Resiliency and Wellbeing is responsible for the development, implementation and assessment of strategic wellbeing planning and support. The Director supports the University’s mission and vision of comprehensive wellbeing services for students, as well as the strategic initiatives of the Division of Student Life to ensure student success. In addition, the Director works closely with members of the Vice President of Student Life/Dean of Students’ team to engage with all aspects of the University community to promote health and wellness and creates a foundation for life-long wellbeing.
Responsibilities:
- Foster a vision that promotes wellbeing and support that is
true to the University vision, mission, and objectives.
- Serve as the comprehensive administrator of Rowan Thrive.
- Serve as the Co-Chair of the University Wellbeing
Committee.
- Create and distribute the Strive to Thrive Newsletter.
- Supervise Student Resiliency Coordinators.
- Manage a caseload as appropriate and necessary.
- Serve as the primary administrator for the University CARES
Program.
- Implement a comprehensive marketing campaign for the awareness
of Rowan Thrive and wellbeing programs and services available to
all campus constituents.
- Develop and oversee comprehensive outreach programs for
students and student groups to promote Rowan Thrive and wellbeing
using a student-centered, prevention-oriented, experiential
learning model.
- Create collaborative partnerships with University divisions and
departments.
- Develop and oversee educational and outreach programs within
Student Life areas and other high-flow student experience units to
connect and integrate their work to promote student
wellbeing.
- Administer departmental budget.
- Implement a comprehensive assessment model to inform
intentional growth and development of areas of
responsibility.
- Administer a robust tracking system for all areas of
responsibility.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Vice President of
Student Life/Dean of Students.
- Master’s degree in health promotion/prevention or other
health-related discipline, higher education/student affairs, or
related field.
- Three (3) years of professional experience, or equivalent
combination of education and experience in higher education and/or
student affairs.
- Demonstrated commitment to university programs, policies and
services intended to maximize student residential learning
experience, personal growth, education, and development.
- Energy, creativity, organizational skills, tolerance for
ambiguity, sense of humor, desire to challenge status quo, ability
to work nontraditional hours and as a member of a team.
- Evidence of a commitment to diversity, sensitivity to the needs
of a diverse student population and promoting a campus climate that
encourages inclusion.
- Familiarity with well-being educational curricula and
methodologies.
- Knowledge of current and emerging trends within collegiate
wellbeing and health promotion and/or prevention strategies.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the
ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies
in a diverse community to analyze and solve problems.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially
Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Demonstrates an understanding and consideration of the
differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying
identities, cultures and backgrounds.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as necessary.
