Job Description:

Responsible for management of assigned residence halls
  • Coordinate daily workflow and administrative tasks related to the operations of the hall including but not limited to access, maintenance and building service requests, general inspections, and student concerns
  • Recruit, train, and supervise Resident Assistants and/or Graduate Assistants within area
  • Responsible for scheduling on-call staff schedule for building for Resident Assistants
  • Assist Student Learning and Engagement in planning and implementing various staff development and recognition programs
  • Responsible for collaborating with various internal units for resident hall opening/closing and intersession
  • Collaborate and assist with room reassignments, room transfers, verification of room condition forms, damage control systems, and verification of occupancy.
  • Conduct building and public area facility inspections coordinating with internal units (e.g. Building Services, Maintenance, and Operations teams) to provide clean, safe, and secure spaces as well as maintain general office operations
  • Responsible for maintaining, disseminating and enforcing policies, procedures, and guidelines for Residence Halls; ensure Resident Assistants and Graduate Assistants are following policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Responsible for implementing effective crisis management and building emergency procedures within the residential community including but not limited to fire, mental health and medical services
  • Educate residents on campus emergency procedures including evacuation and fire alarm procedures
  • Maintain close communication with residents creating a general awareness of educational and physical needs, as well as building rapport with residents
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with departmental and University policies, guidelines, and other relevant regulations
  • Collaborate with area desk staff to ensure proper access to residents, mail delivery, and organized residential common spaces
  • Serve as primary point of contact for residents, and family members of residents
  • Create a residential environment that is inclusive to all residents’ identities; report and manage issues of bias, less-inclusive behavior, and encourage residents to utilize campus resources
  • Serve as a Campus Security Authority
Responsible for developing and implementing educational programming within assigned residence halls
  • Responsible for developing a strategic schedule of events for academic year that aligns with department mission, supports initiatives, and encourages holistic development
  • Develop and implement educational and community programs that promote academic excellence, student success, and contribute to a shared sense of community and enhance a residential environment; Collaborate with Resident Assistants, Graduate Assistants, and/or Student Learning and Engagement
  • Provide programming support for faculty and staff within Living Learning Communities located in area
  • Assist with providing continuing education programming for Resident Assistants and Graduate Assistants
  • Advise student leaders involved with Area Government
  • Monitor budget for educational and community programming
  • Manage and implement plan for effective area communications; ensure messaging and image are aligned with department’s mission and values
Assist with enforcing and coordinating Student Honor Code & Student Conduct Code
  • Collaborate with Housing and Residence Life Conduct and Community Standards on student conduct programs, policies and procedures for community
  • Respond to and mediate, student and community concerns including but not limited to roommate conflicts, student behavior, facilities concerns, and conduct violations
  • Review incident reports that take place within the community or involve residents living in the community
  • Serve as a hearing officer for conduct cases utilizing a restorative action approach to help students understand their responsibilities as members of the hall and University community.
  • Ensure student staff are abiding by appropriate reporting processes for Student Honor Code & Student Conduct Code violations
Serve in an on-call capacity for all campus housing
  • Serve in on-call duty rotation, providing coverage for the undergraduate residence halls including night, weekend, and holidays responding to calls for assistance and emergency situations
  • Complete all administrative tasks as required such as readiness checks, logs/reports, and iService requests
  • Serve as a support system for student staff in an emergency situation coordinating all required services to support Residence Life
  • Act as a liaison to university resources in emergency situations (e.g. Counselor-on-Call, UF Police Department)
  • Ensure secure storage of on-call tools (e.g. keys, phones, and other pieces of technology) at all times.
Develop reports, handle special projects, and perform other duties as assigned
  • Serve on departmental, Division of Student Affairs or University of Florida committees or program support as needed

Bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization.

A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
  • Master's degree in higher education administration, counseling, communications, or other related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with educational program development, learning outcomes, and assessment
  • Demonstrated experience with crisis management
SKILLS:
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and basic software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Experience using Maxient software
  • Demonstrated planning, time management, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
ABILITIES:
  • Ability to lead a team and work cooperatively with team members
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
