Wenzhou-Kean University, a portal campus for Kean University in New Jersey, invites nominations and applications for an Executive Vice Chancellor to join this vibrant, full-scale campus in Wenzhou, China. With more than 3,500 students across 20 undergraduate and 8 graduate programs, the Wenzhou campus offers an American-style university experience with all instruction in English.

Reporting to the Kean University Senior Vice President and President’s Special Counsel (SVP), the Executive Vice Chancellor (EVC) of Wenzhou-Kean University serves as the senior Kean USA Officer onsite. In addition to providing general leadership for Wenzhou-Kean, the EVC collaborates with the President and SVP in maximizing the University’s academic and student affairs divisions’ performances and their abilities to achieve set goals. The EVC serves as an articulate and persuasive spokesperson to assist the President, the SVP, and boards.

This position is located at the Wenzhou-Kean University campus in Wenzhou, China. Significant international travel is required, as the EVC will spend considerable time at the Kean University campus in Union, New Jersey, throughout the year.

The EVC position at Wenzhou-Kean presents the unique opportunity to run a full-scale university operation in a global context. The next EVC will:

  • Be responsible for strategic planning and budgeting;
  • Oversee, with consultation of the President and SVP, the administration and interpretation of applicable federal and/or state laws and regulations that impact Wenzhou-Kean University and translate them into policies and operating procedures;
  • Coordinate with the SVP to ensure the mobilization and coordination of support and services from all units of the home campus in New Jersey needed for the effective operation of the Wenzhou-Kean campus;
  • Work in partnership with the SVP in developing relationships and collaborative procedures, and adoption of agreements with all Chinese partners for the Wenzhou-Kean campus, including the Wenzhou municipal government and its associated entities;
  • Participate in professional activities related to legal, human resources, and other professional counsel and representation;
  • Oversee and ensure campus compliance with all MSCHE accreditation requirements, ensuring institutional effectiveness;
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and cooperative working relationships with University administrators, faculty and staff, government and private agencies, and the public in order to accomplish the objectives of the University;
  • Oversee all campus Academic Affairs to ensure proper development and enforcement of instructional and learning practices and academic policies;
  • Ensure that all proper payments and reimbursements to Kean USA are efficiently and accurately transacted;
  • Represent the University at conferences, seminars, and meetings as required.

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree (terminal degree preferred) and at least six years of administrative leadership experience in a complex environment.
