Job Summary

Evaluate driver education teachers and their delivery of the approved curriculum within the Division of Workforce Partnerships, Transportation Education.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Coordinate the development and on-going revision of a common syllabus and student-parent/legal guardian contract to be utilized for each course.
· Develop and implement a plan for reviewing and assessing the quality and relevance of driver education programming at regular intervals of time. Aspects such as student performance in terms of class work, records maintained by the teacher, lesson plans, etc are considered while evaluating a teacher.
· Conduct program site visits to observe instructor performance, assess student engagement and provide actionable feedback for improvement.
· Organize the collection of survey data and feedback to support well-informed decision-making.
· Review and interpret results from student surveys to inform decisions about how to improve the quality and relevance of program content.
· Analyze and consider research and best practices to make sound recommendations for enhancing curricula and student engagement strategies.
· Actively coordinate with program stakeholders to bolster the use of organizational data to inform programming decisions and convey the impact of programming on students’ performance and retention.
· Assess the professional development needs of program staff and support efforts to address these needs through direct training or engagement of outside professionals.
· Design and plan effective programming aligned with research-based and promising practices for engaging and educating students.
· Help support high-quality instruction in a diverse, inclusive and student-centered environment and the ability to work with students with various cultures, identifies, and life-experiences.
· Help support the use of technology to enhance instruction and communicate effectively with students and colleagues.
· Consult regularly with program stakeholders to discuss and review program updates and collectively address feedback and questions.
· Understand the Americans with Disabilities Act ( ADA ) and adhere to CCRI’s policies and procedures for responding to student requests for accommodations.
· Collaborate with others to update and/or revise curriculum and offer feedback regarding other program components as needed.
· Attend in-service training, program meetings and other program-related events as needed.
· Travel to various parts of the state to observe classroom driver education as needed.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field from an accredited institution of higher education; coursework in curriculum and assessment preferred.
· Eligibility for a Rhode Island Teacher’s Certificate or certified to teach by the Commissioner of Higher Education or his/her designee.
· Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current education methodologies and techniques
· Knowledge of standards-driven curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
· Fluency with using digital tools including online assessments, and a high level of comfort discussing and applying data with educators and leaders.
· Familiarity with integrating technology into curriculum and instruction.
· Experience in providing technical assistance and training to educators.
· Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.
· Outstanding communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
· Work collaboratively with students and colleagues
· Ability to research best practices and use the findings to design effective programming.
· Ability to utilize technology to support program-related activities.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders including students, families, teachers, administrators, and other professionals.
· Highly developed organizational and time management skills.
· Experience working with multilingual learners and differently abled students.
