Position Summary:

Adjunct Instructor of Music specializing in teaching applied tuba lessons and low brass ensembles. Opportunities for additional teaching opportunities may be available based on candidate strengths and department needs.  This position is a part-time position in the Department of Music within the College of Arts & Humanities. The anticipated start date for this position will be August 15, 2022.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach tuba applied lessons and low brass chamber music groups.

Recruit and retain students for the tuba studio.

Engage in continuous improvement of courses.

Engage students in high-impact learning practices. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Exhibit musicianship in solo performance and collaborative settings.

Ability and interest in recruiting and retaining talented undergraduate musicians.

Teach, develop and mentor undergraduate low brass students.

Minimum Requirements:

The applicant must have a Master’s degree in music.

Ability to teach tuba applied lessons.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s or DMA in tuba performance.

Experience teaching and providing leadership for a studio of low brass students.

Evidence of or potential for fostering an inclusive environment for diverse populations.

Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:

The candidate selected to fill this position will work on the Russellville campus of Arkansas Tech University in Witherspoon Hall. Required activities include: teaching and lecturing, sitting for extended periods, use of a keyboard and mouse, use of standard office equipment. Some local travel may be necessary to public schools.  The work schedule may also include nights and weekends.
