Job Description: 

Baruch College invites applications for the Associate Director of Institutional Research position. The mission of the Office of Institutional Research is to compile, maintain, and analyze institutional and other data to support the operation, decision-making, and planning functions of the College.

Under direction of the Associate Provost, the responsibilities of the Associate Director will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the process of providing reliable and accurate data for internal and external consumption.
  • Develop evaluation plans and instruments for outcome assessment.
  • Provide data analytic support for accreditation self-studies (MSCHE, AACSB, NASPAA) and academic program reviews
  • Develop Business Intelligence dashboards to support data-driven decision making
  • Designing, constructing, and maintaining several Institutional Research databases and data warehouses used for reporting and data analytics.
  • Applies advanced coding, Tableau, data visualization techniques, and other analytical skills to translate business logic and produce deliverables in response to routine and non-routine data requests.
  • Processes, transforms, analyzes, interprets, builds, and disseminates data into meaningful, eye-catching, and consumable data visualizations, reports, dashboards, and other tools to support college decision-making.
  • Engages in best methodological and design practices in data analytics and data visualization –including robust validation processes, testing/deployment procedures, user experience quality checks, thorough documentation, and aesthetic guidelines.
  • Integrate data from various systems, examine patterns in data, and draw insights that can be used to support academic and administrative work across the college.
  • Extract and transform data in preparation for analysis, using demonstrated knowledge of relational database systems.
  • Representing the department at committee meeting and other events in the absence of the director.
  • Train staff as necessary

 

NOTES:

Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work on-site in the office. All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to the tri-state area.

 

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Institutional research must include quantitative research, preferably in Higher Education.
  • An advanced degree in a relevant social science or quantitative discipline (e.g., Psychology, Social Science Research, Economics, Higher Education Administration, and Applied Statistics) is strongly preferred.
  • Power user of SPSS or SAS that includes syntax writing and the ability to use macros, along with the ability to query large data sets and to analyze complex data sets.
  • The successful candidate will have intermediate to advanced knowledge of Tableau
  • The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of SQL, Python, Oracle PeopleSoft or other similar ERP systems
  • Knowledge of data mining packages (SAS Miner or SPSS Modeler) is highly desirable
  • Excellent skills in research methodology, research design and statistical techniques such as Multiple Regression, and Multiple Logistic Regression are required
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as in a team
  • Must be detailed and accurate in data analysis
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills
  • Must be able to handle tight deadlines, multiple priorities, and concurrent projects.
