Position Title & Description: Assistant or Associate Professor Precision Livestock Science.
This is a nine-month, tenure track or tenured appointment (75% research and 25% teaching
position) in the Department of Animal and Dairy Science (ADS, ads.caes.uga.edu) at the College
of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia. The position will be

Major Responsibilities: This is a nine-month academic-year tenure track or tenured
appointment position with a 75% Research and 25% Instructional appointment. The ideal
candidate is expected to build a nationally and internationally recognized research program in
Precision Agriculture centered on the development and integration of innovative phenomics
approaches and advanced data analytics tools with applications in livestock production systems
with an emphasis on dairy. Sensor and machine-based data collection, machine vision,
autonomous control systems, and AI-enabled data analysis and decision-making geared towards,
but not limited to, resource use optimization, increased animal productivity, sustainability and
mitigation of climate change on livestock systems, and animal health and welfare are some of the
primary research focus areas of this position.

The successful candidate is expected to develop an innovative and extramurally funded research
program capable of addressing the research and educational needs of the dairy industry. The
successful candidate will support the instruction efforts of the Department through the teaching
of undergraduate and graduate-level courses commensurate with a 25% instructional
appointment. The University of Georgia offers an exceptional environment for collaborative

for collaborative research. This position will work with state-of-the-art dairy facilities with the
capabilities of collecting sensor and robotic data. The new hire is expected to extensively
collaborate with colleagues within the Department, College, and University.

Qualifications: Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in quantitative and computational sciences or
related fields with special emphasis on artificial intelligence, big data analytics, or robotics.
Previous background with animal and plant applications is a plus. Candidates with a proven
record of carrying and publishing innovative research, and securing extramural funding are
highly encouraged to apply. To be considered at the rank of Associate Professor, candidates must
have at least 5 full years in rank at the Assistant Professor level. To be eligible for tenure upon
appointment, candidates must be appointed as an Associate professor, have been tenured at a
prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution. Candidates must
